VCRMM: Chapter 484

Su Mo x Chi Yu Extra Ten

In the early morning, the sun shone through the gaps in the curtains.

Chi Yu opened his eyes and stared blankly at the chandelier on the ceiling for a while. His sluggish thoughts gradually cleared and he slowly sat up.

He went to the window and swiftly pulled open the blackout curtains, letting more sunlight stream in and illuminate the entire bedroom.

The young man squinted. Once his eyes adjusted to the light, he reached out and pushed the window open.

It was 6 a.m. in the game, which corresponded to noon in the real world. This should be the time when players were least active.

The bustling Doha Town, usually so lively at night, had now returned to a rare tranquility. There were already many people heading to the market, but the noise was less chaotic and more pleasant.

Chi Yu lowered his head slightly.

The small potted plant on the windowsill swayed in the breeze, blooming with tiny purple, white and yellow flowers. They crowded together in a lovely display that was enough to brighten anyone’s day.

Chi Yu looked at the flower with a small smile.

Speaking of which, this little potted plant was also a gift from Su Mo. He said he planted it himself and gave it to Chi Yu because he thought it was beautiful when it bloomed. Chi Yu hadn’t thought much about it at the time, but now it left a sweet taste in his mouth.

The red-haired youth stretched out a finger and lightly tapped one of the small flowers, as if poking someone’s cheek. His beautiful red eyes shone with joy in the morning light.

He stood by the window for a while before turning around and going inside.

By the time he arrived on the first floor, the young man had already changed his clothes and was ready to go.

Chi Yu went to the mailbox by the door to retrieve today’s newspaper. He returned, sat down on the sofa and carefully read through it.

Communicators were becoming more common, allowing people to access information anytime and anywhere, but he still preferred to read newspapers.

Fortunately, the newspaper hadn’t closed down. On the contrary, it accepted submissions from some braves and many of the articles became more interesting. They were able to gain a better understanding of the unpredictable personalities of the braves through these articles.

Chi Yu was engrossed in reading. Before he knew it, the clock had struck 8. In a little while, he would have to go to work.

He put down the newspaper, feeling a bit hungry.

Chi Yu looked towards the dining room and didn’t see that familiar figure, nor did he smell the delicious aroma of food. He finally realized that something was wrong.

Yes, Su Mo was restricted because he had been reported three times and wouldn’t be able to return until tonight.

Thinking about this, Chi Yu felt that both his stomach and heart were empty. He felt very uncomfortable.

It turned out that without realizing it, Su Mo already had such a significant influence on him.

He got up, went into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator and looked inside. There were some leftovers from last night and a few lychees.

Chi Yu took out a lychee, carefully peeled off the shell and took a small bite.

It was sweet and refreshing.

Chi Yu felt a bit better as he thought of the scene of Su Mo bringing lychees to the construction site to find him yesterday. He took the leftovers, heated them in the microwave and sat down at the table to eat alone.

Reheated food was still edible but ultimately lost its original flavor. It didn’t taste as good as freshly cooked food.

Chi Yu lost interest after a few bites.

He looked at the empty seat across the table and felt the silence of the house. It was as if a hand was squeezing his heart. He hurriedly gulped down a glass of hot milk, stood up abruptly, grabbed his things and left home.

He ran out to the garden path, stood at the gate of the yard and turned around to look at the house he had designed himself, which was almost perfect in every way. However, Chi Yu didn’t feel the joy and satisfaction he used to have.

He had a sudden realization.

It turned out that he only felt at home when Su Mo was around, otherwise…

It was just a somewhat nice house.

Chi Yu stared blankly for a long time before turning his gaze away and walking towards the construction site with the blueprints in his arms.

It was okay.

He told himself that Su Mo would be back tonight as promised.

Previously when Su Mo went to carry out the mission of the braves, they were separated for ten days or even half a month. Now it had been only one day since they last met. There was no need to act like this.

Chi Yu convinced himself in this way.

However, he still pursed his lips when he arrived at the platform and waited alone for the arrival of the floating bus.

Yes, they were separated for a long time but back then, Su Mo wasn’t his boyfriend and Su Mo would always take him to the station.

Longing was a truly irrational thing.

Chi Yu stood quietly in the crowd, staring up at the sky that was gradually turning blue and clear. A sense of unease and melancholy rose in his heart.

He already missed Su Mo so much after being apart for less than a day.

If Su Mo was unable to reappear in the future due to the closure of the braves’ teleportation channel, how much unbearable pain would he feel?

Beep.

The alarm indicating the public bus closing its doors startled Chi Yu awake. He snapped out of his daze and hurriedly got on the bus.

Just in time, the doors of the bus closed again and the nearly half-full bus of passengers continued to the next stop.

Chi Yu sat down in the last row by the window, looking gloomy and frowning.

His gaze fell on the scenery outside the window. He was initially just aimlessly looking at the view, trying to distract himself with the passing landscape.

However, he gradually took in the scenery of the town. The buildings on both sides of the street came into view, almost each one designed by Chi Yu.

After so long, looking back at his previous works caused new ideas and inspirations to involuntarily surface in his mind. By the time he came back to his senses, his expression had already relaxed.

Chi Yu recalled his state just now and seemed to have an epiphany.

Perhaps when the day came that Su Mo no longer appeared, he would indeed feel pain and despair, but he would never stop exploring and advancing in the field of architecture.

Perhaps this was the only way to free him from his pain?

Just as he realized this, the public floating bus stopped at the last stop.

Chi Yu composed himself and got out to go to the construction site.

Around 9 o’clock in the morning, the construction site was already bustling with activity. Chi Yu was also energized again when seeing this vibrant scene.

He strode over and joined them.

In a few days, the expansion of Doha Town would be completed and other miscellaneous projects would be handled by others.

The work here no longer required his supervision. It was unknown if His Majesty would assign him a new task or not.

As time passed, people came and went on the construction site, with braves constantly arriving to take on new missions.

The braves were always so enthusiastic. For a small reward, they were able to complete their work with great passion and achieve a high quality.

The elementalists at the construction site all liked the braves and were willing to teach them some basic elemental skills in their spare time. This seemed to be one of the reasons why the braves were so keen to come to the construction site.

The braves had amazing talent, so no matter the difficulty of the skill or the level of the teacher, they just had to be taught and they could learn it immediately. There was no need to go to the Elementalist Academy to learn the basic skills.

Their level of understanding was so high that it was truly beyond the reach of others.

Chi Yu had heard some elementalists talk about this with great envy.

Su Mo was also a brave and his talent was very strong.

Chi Yu sometimes felt envious but he was mostly happy. He once told Su Mo that he should go to the Elementalist Academy for further studies. Su Mo’s achievements as a magic circle master meant the Elementalist Academy wouldn’t refuse him and he would definitely become a powerful elementalist.

However, this guy was determined to stay by Chi Yu’s side, saying he could learn a lot from Chi Yu. After a few times, Chi Yu could only follow his words.

Chi Yu felt helpless thinking of Su Mo’s stubbornness and sincerity, but he also couldn’t help smiling.

Seeing him suddenly smiling, the elementalist asking him a question was taken aback before teasing him, “Has something good happened? Why are you so happy, Master Chi?”

Chi Yu’s ears turned slightly red but he readily admitted it. “Yes, there is indeed something good.”

Then the topic was dropped. The elementalist wisely refrained from asking further questions and continued working.

At noon, Chi Yu stayed at the construction site to eat lunch with his fellow workers.

As he sat on a chair with a lunch box and ate, he couldn’t help looking towards the entrance of the construction site, hoping to see that figure appear.

Unfortunately, even after he had eaten a few bites of each dish and felt full, the guy who said he liked Chi Yu and wanted to be his boyfriend hadn’t shown up.

Chi Yu knew he couldn’t blame Su Mo for this. Su Mo had reminded him last night and he couldn’t help acting on his own. However, he still felt a bit aggrieved.

He took a deep breath, got up and walked to the path next to the construction site. He put the half-eaten lunch box on the ground. Soon, several puppies ran over barking. They wagged their tails frantically as they ate the food.

Chi Yu shook his head when he saw the puppies’ joyful antics and muttered, “If you have ever eaten his cooking…”

He paused for a moment before saying in a dejected manner, “You definitely won’t be able to eat this any longer.”

Chi Yu stood alone by the path for a while before turning back to the construction site. Everyone else had finished eating and was enjoying their lunch break, but Chi Yu spread out blueprints and continued looking at them. It seemed that this was the only way for him to numb himself.

It was evening before he knew it.

It was already past the time to leave work, but due to a small problem in the middle of the day, the construction site didn’t close up early. Chi Yu didn’t want to go home too early to face the empty house, so he volunteered to stay and help.

Before he knew it, it was 8 or 9 o’clock in the evening.

Night fell and Doha Town was brightly lit as the nighttime festivities began.

“That’s it for today. Thank you for your hard work.”

Chi Yu might be unwilling to go back but he couldn’t possibly drag everyone to work overtime with him. In the end, he announced the disbandment of work.

Everyone cheered and started packing up to go home. Chi Yu also started working on his blueprints when a coworker approached him and asked, “Chi Yu why didn’t anyone bring you lunch today?”

Chi Yu paused before replying without looking up, “He has something to do and can’t come.”

“Oh, I see,” the coworker said. “But I think I just saw him at the entrance of the construction site.”

Chi Yu looked up abruptly. “Really?”

After a moment, his eyes brightened as if a lifeless pool had been filled with fresh water, or a dusty ruby had been wiped clean, revealing its original brilliance.

As he spoke, he didn’t care about his coworker’s reply. He dropped his things and hurriedly ran out of the temporary camp. He only slowly stopped when he saw the black-haired young man standing under the street lamp in the distance.

The young man had spotted him and waved one hand. His other hand seemed to be carrying a lunch box.

“Is he here to bring you a late-night meal?”

His coworker caught up behind him and looked at the lunch box, envy in his voice.

Chi Yu suddenly turned to him and said, “Didn’t you ask me last time what he is to me?”

“Yes.” The coworker nodded.

Then he saw the usually gentle, polite and steady chief engineer reveal a bright and cheerful smile.

Chi Yu said, “He is my family member.”

The coworker was stunned while the red-haired youth had already run quickly towards the figure under the street lamp, hugging his boyfriend tightly like any couple in love.
