SFR: Chapter 23 Part 1

Fu Xiuning went to the company’s legal department.

There was no one in the legal department working on weekends, but there were people on duty to respond to possible emergencies in a timely manner.

The staff member on duty had nothing to do and was still taking a nap at this time. Suddenly, the boss came over. In his haste, the staff member almost tripped over himself as he gave the boss a big salute.

Fu Xiuning ignored him and asked, “Where are the contracts for the trainees?”

The person on duty didn’t have time to wipe the sweat off his face. He quickly took out a file box from the cabinet and said, “It’s all here.”

Fu Xiuning took it and said, “I’ll take it to the office and bring it back later.”

The person on duty said ‘okay’ and had no objections.

The original contracts were kept in a very safe place. What they kept on file were photocopies. It didn’t matter if the boss accidentally damaged one or two copies.

Fu Xiuning returned to the office and took out Xing Shi’s contract from the file box. The date on it was during the winter vacation and it was signed by the original owner himself.

Fu Xiuning made a copy of the contract, put the fresh, wrinkle-free copy back in the binder to the legal department, and drove home with the other copy.

The moment he entered the room, he went straight to the newly bought bookcase and pulled out Xing Shi’s class notebook. By comparing the contents of the textbook, he confirmed that it was a recent knowledge point. Then he took it to the study to make a copy and called his assistant.

The assistant came over and the boss handed him a file bag.

Fu Xiuning ordered, “Find an authentication agency to see if the words were written by the same person. Hand the results to me personally. The sooner, the better.”

There was a system. To avoid being detected by it, he couldn’t test Xing Shi. In addition, Xing Shi was in a state of amnesia, and he probably couldn’t test anything. This was the most direct and effective way.

He warned, “Don’t tell anyone about this.”

The assistant was startled and took it.

Fu Xiuning watched the other person leave and quickly went over the details in his mind.

The system wouldn’t waste energy on useless work. The hosts were all out of the city, so the possibility of them keeping an eye on him was extremely low.

Lin Kecheng was in this city, but his mind wasn’t on Fu Xiuning at the moment. Besides, he threw his phone far away when he did these things. Even if a host happened to let the system check him, they wouldn’t know what he did.

This life assistant was trained by his family. He had withstood the bribery of several hosts in the past two years, so he should be reliable. In addition, he often helped Fu Xiuning deal with various unimportant chores, so these hosts had long lost interest in investigating him.

Fu Xiuning confirmed that there were no mistakes and returned to the house with peace of mind.

As usual, Xing Shi trained in the company until late at night.

Yesterday when he went to the apartment to get his clothes, Yu Yi and the others were all at the company and had no idea he was moving.

He had no intention of talking about this for the time being. Seeing that they had reached downstairs, he took the initiative to say, “I’m not going back to the apartment today.”

Yu Yi and the others subconsciously thought he was going back to school. After all, tomorrow was Monday, and he had classes.

They told him to be careful on the road and parted ways here.

Fu Xiuning’s home was between the company and the school, forming an unequal triangle. There was a subway station nearby, but it took a while to get there. Xing Shi scanned a shared bike like he did in the morning and rode it back.

He entered the password to open the door. The lights in the entrance and living room were on.

Xing Shi changed his shoes and walked inside. He saw someone sitting on the sofa.

Fu Xiuning was wearing pajamas, and his temperament was gentle under the light. He wasn’t as distant as usual and seemed a bit more real.

He was playing with his phone. Once he heard the sound, he looked up and asked gently, “Are you back?”

Xing Shi hummed and walked over.

As the distance got closer, he heard the familiar notification sound.

[Ding.]

[Currently favorability value: -4.]

It returned to -5 during lunch and jumped back up again in the evening.

Xing Shi ignored it and looked at Fu Xiuning curiously. This appearance was rarely seen by outsiders. He couldn’t help asking, “Are you going to sleep?”

Fu Xiuning put away his phone. “I’m going to sleep now. How did you get back?”

Xing Shi replied, “A shared bicycle.”

Fu Xiuning asked, “Do you need me to arrange a driver for you? In any case, the salary is paid by Qi Changyi.”

“No, why would I, a trainee, need a driver? That is too much?”

Xing Shi thought for a moment before saying, “Why don’t I buy an electric bike that looks like a lamb? Some people at school ride one, and it looks pretty good. I’ll buy two helmets, and we can go for a ride together sometime.”

Fu Xiuning refused to imagine that scene. He stood up and said gently, “Go to bed early.”

It was Xing Shi’s second night sleeping here. His sleep quality was better than before.

The environment was very quiet. There weren’t that many people, unlike the apartment or dormitory. This meant he wouldn’t be woken up by all types of noises.

Both of them had classes in the morning, so they went to school together after breakfast.

This was the first time Xing Shi’s new look was unveiled on campus and he attracted a lot of attention along the way.

He caused a lot of screams when he entered the classroom. Everyone was familiar with each other and no longer cared about being reserved. Their reactions were very direct.

Several roommates who threatened to give birth to babies for him looked at him in amazement and said, “You are becoming more and more like an idol now.”

Xing Shi smiled and sat down next to them. “It is mainly because I am good-looking.”

His roommates laughed and cursed, but none of them refuted him.

Xing Shi calmly finished a class despite the occasional glances from his classmates. Then he received a message from Lin Kecheng asking him to meet him.

He readily agreed before asking the system, “After he looked at my favorability score that day, he didn’t reply with anything other than a congratulations?”

The system replied, “Yes. Do you think they believe it?”

“We will know when we meet.”

Lin Kecheng didn’t have a good time after returning that day.

He decided to take action against Xing Shi. The first thing he did was to let the system check Xing Shi’s information to find out who around him could be used. As a result, he found out that Xing Shi was He Fengbo’s son.

Some time ago, they checked Qi Changyi’s information and found the relationship between Qi Changyi and He Fengbo. The two of them had never publicized it, and the media wasn’t aware of it. He had been thinking about how to use this information to benefit himself, such as deliberately praising one person in front of the other person. As a result, he was slapped in the face so quickly.

According to this relationship, Qi Changyi could barely be considered Xing Shi’s cousin. The data showed that Xing Shi and He Fengbo had conflicts, but the soul in the body now wasn’t the original owner but a transmigrator!

He broke down on the spot.

All the opportunities and people he had worked so hard to get were now within his reach, but the treatment he received was completely different.

He laughed in anger. “Is this what you call random? It is really random.”

The system was extremely surprised. “How could he have such a background?”

Lin Kecheng asked, “Has your main system already decided on the final winner? Are the other hosts just runners-up?”

The system exclaimed, “Impossible. All hosts have the same chance!”

Lin Kecheng was angry. “With this appearance and background, can you say that we have the same chance?”

The system choked up. After a few seconds, it said, “But… but he is a fool!”

Lin Kecheng calmed down in an instant.

Seeing that he was silent, the system tried to reason with him, “He isn’t only stupid, but also has amnesia. He isn’t as smart as you. You just have to make good use of those advantages, and he can serve us, becoming ours.”

Lin Kecheng listened to it. “Yes.”

The system sighed with relief and analyzed it. “Fu Xiuning should know his identity so his favorability value has returned to -5. We can get close to QI Changyi through Xing Shi. Do you still want to attack him?”

Lin Kecheng asked back, “Why not?”

He added, “My ultimate goal is Fu Xiuning. Let’s see if Fu Xiuning is special to him first before talking about other things.”

The system had just persuaded this person, so it naturally didn’t want to disagree. “Okay.”

The two people met at a coffee store on campus.

Xing Shi and Fu Xiuning had been here before and ordered dessert.

Xing Shi entered through the door and found Lin Kecheng already there. Lin Kecheng waved to him in a friendly manner and asked him to place the order.

Xing Shi’s character was naive and had no emotional intelligence. Every time the two of them were together, it was always the generous Senior Lin who paid for the meal.

He didn’t bother to be polite. He went to the front counter and ordered a latte and a small cake. Then he sat down on the sofa.

Lin Kecheng saw his new look from a close distance and suddenly felt jealous. He thought that if he had these conditions, he would’ve stopped being -5 a long time ago.

Xing Shi caught his fleeting jealousy. After seeing that this person’s emotions had stabilized, he said harmlessly, “The alliance hasn’t expired yet. What do you want to talk to me about, Senior?”

Lin Kecheng looked at him. “I was also at the promotional show on Saturday.”

Xing Shi was suddenly asked for his favorability that day, so he made a rough guess and pretended to be surprised. “Really? Then why didn’t you come and say hello? Fu Xiuning happened to be there too.”

Lin Kecheng said, “I saw that the two of you came together, and I felt he was a bit interested in you. Therefore, I checked your information.”

He sighed helplessly. “Junior Brother, we are allies. You have to tell me some information so that I can help you with strategies. If you had told me about your relationship with Qi Changyi earlier, I would’ve helped you come up with several strategies to capture Fu Xiuning. You could’ve arranged for me to work in the company, so that it would be more convenient for us to work together.”

His expression was someone disappointed and he sighed again. “Other hosts are all eyeing us covetously. They have been here longer than us. Naturally, the sooner we act, the better. Look how many opportunities you have wasted?”

Xing Shi didn’t buy into this emotional manipulation and said innocently, “But Qi Changyi and I don’t have a good relationship.”

He said, “Look carefully. Every time I had a conflict with my father, it affected my stepmother. Qi Changyi actually dislikes me. I was always nervous when I went to the company every day out of fear of running into him.”

He said in fear, “You don’t even know what he said when we had dinner that day. He said he would take me to film variety shows and movies. I thought he was a good person at first, but the system reminded me that he might want to take me alone to punish me.”

This certainly wasn’t true.

At first, he and the system were worried that Qi Changyi would make things difficult for him, but he wasn’t blind. After two days of brief contact, he could see that QI Changyi had no intention of causing trouble.

However, Lin Kecheng judged others by his own experience and felt that the system’s analysis was probably correct.

He took the opportunity to teach Xing Shi, “Then you should tell me so that I can help you deal with the hidden dangers.”

Xing Shi said, “I’m worried that Senior will think I am holding you back.”

He changed the subject. “But it can be considered a blessing in disguise. I said I couldn’t rest well, and Qi Changyi took the opportunity to ask me to live with him. Fu Xiuning saw that my father was there, so he politely mentioned that I could live with him as well. His tone sounded quite perfunctory, but I didn’t care whether he was sincere or not. I agreed on the spot!”

The person and system on the other side: “?!”

The look of ‘thinking about you’ on Lin Kecheng’s face suddenly cracked. “…What?”

Xing Shi seemed to not understand people’s expressions and said happily, “I have moved in. Fu Xiuning arranged a guest room for me near the door. We are separated by a living room. I get out early and come back late every day, so it seems difficult to see him. Still, it doesn’t matter. I will try my best!”

Lin Kecheng clenched his fists and tried to smile appropriately. “That’s great.”

“Yes!”

At this time, the coffee and dessert were ready and were brought by the waiter.

Lin Kecheng drank a cup of coffee as if he was being tortured. After finishing it, he found an excuse and left in a hurry.
