PFRG: Chapter 137

The Sanctuary

His vision, which was deprived during the transmission, was restored. After opening his eyes, he had returned to the random instance exit location. At the same time, a series of system notifications popped up along with the system messages.

Every sound that entered his ears was like a sharp reminder. The final scene emerged in Chi Ting’s mind. In the last moment, the beam of light that should’ve hit his body instead pierced straight into Yue Ren’s body.

It took him less than a second to react. He turned his head and saw the figure. He instinctively ran over and asked, “Yue Ren? How do you feel?”

“Hmm.” The dazzling light caused Yue Ren to squint slightly. At a glance, it could be seen that his face was clearly pale. He let out a long sigh, and his tone was unusually slow. “Just… I still feel a bit dizzy.”

He originally fell to the ground, but with Chi Ting’s strength, he hung onto the other person’s body very naturally.

As he straightened his posture, Chi Ting started to carefully check Yue Ren’s physical condition without hesitation. He didn’t forget to confirm it while checking. He didn’t even notice that his voice was tense. “Where do you feel uncomfortable? I remember that the light directly pierced your back, right? Are you injured? Are there any wounds… just bear with it for a while. It will be fine with Old Song here.”

He explored Yue Ren’s body for a while. Before Yue Ren could stop it, Chi Ting had already ripped open the collar of his shirt. His breathing became even more rapid. “No, don’t pull it…”

“You are embarrassed at this time.” Chi Ting still didn’t show much expression on his face. For a moment, his usual indifference had disappeared. He pushed away Yue Ren’s hand that was trying to stop him. Then with force, he directly tore off the whole piece of clothing. “You also know who the designer of the instance is. The last arrangement is most likely intentional by him. We must not let him…”

The last syllable came to an abrupt end with the sound of fabric tearing.

As Chi Ting paused, the surroundings fell into silence for a long time.

Finally, Yue Ren came out of his dizzy state. He laughed hoarsely, still breathing deeply. His trembling became clearer due to the laughter he couldn’t hold back. “I mean… don’t pull my clothes. Just let me take it easy. I’m really fine. But why are you so anxious?”

“……”

Chi Ting looked down. He saw that even though Yue Ren’s back was covered with scars, they were obviously old wounds from a long time ago. There were no new wounds.

“What’s wrong, Captain?” Ji Xingque and Song Xuefeng came over and witnessed the shocking scene of Chi Ting ripping off Yue Ren’s shirt. They didn’t know the cause and effect, so their pupils trembled for a moment. “What are you two doing in broad daylight?”

Now the posture of the two people looked quite eye-catching. Yue Ren leaned lightly on Chi Ting. He didn’t react much to the upper body being exposed after his shirt was torn off. After hearing such a deafening question and noticing the gazes of the passersby, he finally laughed more and more uncontrollably. In fact, he was still a bit uncomfortable, but he was in a state of laughing to the point of tears. This made it really hard to associate the word ‘weak’ with him for a while. He didn’t hesitate to continue to maintain this posture. “Captain Chi, you will make me understand that you are a bit too anxious.”

Before he could finish his words, a shirt was thrown towards him and hit him directly in the face.

“Put it on.” Chi Ting threw the clothes he bought from the points mall to Yue Ren. He remained in this position without moving until the guy leaning on him slowly put on his clothes. His eyes lowered slightly, and he didn’t comment on the last sentence that was obviously a frame-up. “So, are you sure everything is fine?”

“Yes… it should be fine.” Yue Ren cleared his throat to make his voice less hoarse. Finally, he sat up slowly from the posture of leaning on Chi Ting. He noticed the direction of Chi Ting’s gaze, and his lips curled up. “What’s wrong, Captain Chi? Haven’t you seen enough?”

“What is there to see?”

Yue Ren thought about the hideous wounds on his body and chuckled. “Yes, there is really nothing worth seeing.”

He put on his clothes as he spoke. Then he supported himself on the ground with his arms and tried to stand up. However, his body swayed slightly before he could control it. Fortunately, Chi Ting had been paying attention to his every move. He quickly supported Yue Ren.

Chi Ting smiled slightly. “Nothing?”

Yue Ren: “……”

He gently pushed Chi Ting’s hand away and coughed softly. “It is really okay. You can see that there are no wounds left. I guess I just got anemia because I stood up too quickly.”

Chi Ting’s gaze fell on the face. The hideous scars he had just seen appeared in his mind. He opened his mouth and was about to say something when he heard a voice and footsteps behind him. “Okay, I finally found you now.”

The moment he looked back, Ji Xingque almost jumped up from the ground in surprise. “Sister Meimei? Why are you with Captain Rong?”

“We happened to meet. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known that you guys were so enthusiastic about entering the instance. If you had rested a bit longer, you would’ve waited for me to go with you. Hi, Captain. It’s been a long time since we last met. Why didn’t you say hello to me?” Hua Qianmei had already approached as she was talking. Her eyes stayed on Yue Ren for a long time. After blinking for a while, she showed a bit of realization. She leaned close to Chi Ting’s ear and asked in a voice that only the two of them could hear, “Is this… the one I am thinking of?”

Chi Ting was also a bit surprised by Hua Qianmei’s sudden appearance. Before he could ask her how she knew Rong Jie, he was a bit speechless when he heard this question from out of the blue. “Which one?”

“That one.” Hua Qianmei lowered his voice. “I saw it all from a distance just now. You stripped him of his clothes right after the instance. It isn’t a good idea to be so impatient without waiting to get back to the hotel. I see that this man is weak and frail. Sometimes, you are even more ruthless than me. You have to be careful when torturing him.”

Chi Ting was confused by the first part. He only reacted vaguely after the latter part. He heard Yue Ren laughing behind him and took Hua Qianmei away quickly. “I told you to find fewer BL novels to read. What is your head full of right now?”

“Huh? It isn’t the case?”

Chi Ting gritted his teeth. “Of course not. I was checking if he was injured!”

Hua Qianmei couldn’t help revealing a regretful expression. “Is that so? I really think you two look very compatible.”

She noticed Chi Ting’s gaze and quickly changed the subject. “But you just said you wanted to check his injuries… I’ve been waiting since the live stream was cut off, but you guys stayed in there for such a long time before showing up. Did something else happen?”

“I’ll tell you about this when I get back,” Chi Ting said. Then he looked up and glanced at everyone from the Watchtower team. “I troubled you, Captain Rong. Thank you for helping bring Meimei here.”

“Ah, you’re welcome. Compared to your help, it was a piece of cake.” Due to Hua Qianmei, Rong Jie became more interested in the phantom that Chi Ting had summoned before. But looking at the situation in front of him, it obviously wasn’t the time to ask more questions. He thought for a while and said, “If I’m not mistaken, the instance just now should be the certification test of your team, right? So now we have to go to the team information registration center to continue the process. If you register Miss Hua Qianmei in your team, you can complete the formation of a five member team. If you aren’t familiar with the way, I can take you there.”

Chi Ting wondered, “Is there a time limit for the results of the certification test?”

“I’m not sure about that. Our team rushed over right after the instance was completed.” Rong Jie wondered, “Are there any other problems?”

“I want to go back and rest for a while. Then…”

“It’s okay. Let’s finish the team’s work first.” A hand fell on Chi Ting’s shoulder, and Yue Ren’s voice came from behind him. “The sooner we get it done, the sooner you can rest assured. After it is done, we can go back and sleep peacefully.”

Chi Ting turned back. “You…”

“I told you that I’m just a bit dizzy. If I really can’t walk anymore, just carry me to the hotel.”

Chi Ting stared directly into Yue Ren’s eyes. Seeing the tiredness hidden under the smiling expression, he lowered his gaze. “That’s fine.”

The group walked along in a mighty procession with Yue Ren’s hand never leaving Chi Ting’s shoulder.

It seemed nonchalant, but in fact, it was a key point for support. Chi Ting let him do this and occasionally gave a helping hand. He saw through it but didn’t say it aloud.

Hua Qianmei had already pulled Ji Xingque over to ask about what happened. They were chatting animatedly.

The people from the Watchtower team led the way in front. Rong Jie would sneak a glance back from time to time, but didn’t say anything.

By the time they arrived at the team information registration center, Hua Qianmei had basically understood the situation of their previous instances. Once she learned that Yue Ren was an NPC brought out from an instance, she took a closer look at him without concealing it.

They entered through the door, and Chi Ting went straight to the registration counter.

The newly cleared instance had confirmed their qualifications. It also made the process of formally completing the team registration go very smoothly.

Next, it was time for Hua Qianmei to register to join the team.

Just as Chi Ting filled out the registration form and was about to submit it, a voice was heard. “I’ve been sitting here for so long. Did no one really see me?”

Everyone looked over. A man sitting in the corner slowly turned around and said, “Everyone, long time no see.”

It was fine that Hua Qianmei showed up unexpectedly, but even the last old teammate showed up. This left Ji Xingque speechless for a moment. “Y-Y-You… Why are you here too? Oh, that’s not right. You said you’ve been sitting here for a long time. This means you’ve been waiting for us here? How did you know we would come here?”

“I saw the news of the first clearance,” Lu Nanling replied. “The name of the Dawn team hasn’t appeared on the rankings but it obtained the MVP certification. The only possibility is that you are undergoing a team certification test. There are too many instance exits in the Sanctuary. It is obviously impractical to search one by one. Rather than taking a chance without any clues, I naturally chose to wait for you here. After all, you have to come here to complete the final registration step after passing the certification test, right?”

Ji Xingque muttered, “…You haven’t changed at all.”

Lu Nanling smiled. “I know. I still make you feel annoyed as always, right?”

This person didn’t say anything, but Ji Xingque inexplicably felt that his IQ had been mocked again. Just as he was about to explode, Hua Qianmei patted his head at the right time and comforted him, “Don’t be angry. Isn’t Xiao Lu always like this? He has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Don’t bother with him.”

“Sister Meimei…”

Before Ji Xingque could be moved, Hua Qianmei laughed and continued, “After all, the result of confronting him will only make you angrier.”

Ji Xingque: “…….” F*k!

Lu Nanling didn’t continue to tease Ji Xingque. He walked up to Chi Ting and consciously entered his team information. “Captain, it is great to see you again.”

He obviously also noticed the qualification of the last remaining substitute position. He just glanced at the only new member of the team that he didn’t know and said as if he didn’t mind, “It seems I have caught the last train. It isn’t bad to be a substitute.”

Chi Ting looked at Lu Nanling and Hua Qianmei. Then the corners of his lips curled up slightly. “Yes.”

The information was submitted, and the newly established Dawn team was finally officially full.

Chi Ting glanced at the people who still seemed to be complaining to each other, and walked quickly towards Yue Ren.

Yue Ren had been leaning against the wall and watching quietly, his eyes following Chi Ting’s busy figure without moving away. Now that Chi Ting approached, he smiled and said, “Congratulations, Captain Chi. You’ve all assembled so quickly.”

Chi Ting reminded him. “They will also be your teammates in the future.”

Yue Ren glanced at Chi Ting’s expression. He knew what this person wanted to say and replied, “I know. I will try my best to cooperate.”

Chi Ting met Yue Ren’s gaze with hesitation. Finally, he frowned at Yue Ren’s obviously unhappy expression. “Let’s go back and rest first. We will talk about other things later.”

He was about to take Yue Ren and leave when he was grabbed by the wrist.

He looked back and happened to see Yue Ren’s helpless expression. “Um… Actually, I just wanted to say. Captain Chi, I might really need to trouble you to carry me back to the hotel.”

After a slight pause, Chi Ting realized the meaning of these words. His originally happy mood at seeing his teammates return to the team suddenly sank to the bottom. He quickly stepped forward and reached out to hold Yue Ren steadily. “Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere? Why didn’t you say it before?”

“It isn’t that I’m uncomfortable. I’m just a bit…” Yue Ren didn’t forget to smile at Chi Ting. Then he slowly closed his eyes due to the dizziness that surged over him, leaving only a deep ending sound. “…Sleepy.”

To be honest, he was a bit moved when he saw the reunion of the Dawn team just now. He was also very considerate and didn’t want to spoil the fun of these people, so he supported himself silently. It wasn’t until he was in the arms of the man and a familiar breath brushed past his nose that he fell into deep darkness with peace of mind.

It was a pity that he couldn’t see Captain Chi hugging him with his own eyes.

At the last moment, only this regretful thought remained in Yue Ren’s mind.
