FV: Chapter 342 Part 1

Extra: Meeting You

TL: The final two chapters are of Lin Fei and Ji Leyu of the book world meeting the two of them in this world.

By the time Lin Fei read the last line of the contract and signed his name in the lower right corner, it was already 10 o’clock. The night was deep and the crescent moon was hanging high outside the window. Lin Fei closed his pen and stood up unhurriedly. He turned off the computer and left his office.

Everyone in the company had already left. Even his assistant and secretaries had left work. He was the only one who seemed tireless and was always the last to leave the company.

His phone rang as he got in the car. It was his friend asking him if he wanted to go out and play.

Lin Fei replied, ‘No.’ He opened the car door and got in the car.

His friends had long been accustomed to his appearance of not being interested in anything other than work. After seeing his reply, his friend didn’t ask any more questions and went to the lively place.

People in the world always liked to be lively, but Lin Fei was an anomaly.

He didn’t like excitement, social interaction or others getting close to him. If they didn’t have similar interests, then he didn’t need friends.

The traffic at night wasn’t too congested. Lin Fei didn’t take much time getting home.

He turned on the light and walked straight to the kitchen. He hadn’t eaten yet.

There was unfinished rice in the refrigerator from last night. Lin Fei took it out, grabbed peppers, eggs, shrimp, corn and other ingredients and simply fried some rice for himself.

He watched the latest financial news as he ate. After finishing the news, Lin Fei also finished eating. He washed the dishes, took a shower and returned to his bed.

There was a science fiction novel he hadn’t finished reading on the bedside table next to his bed. Lin Fei picked it up and continued reading.

There was no expression on his face. It wasn’t until the hour hand reached the number 1 that Lin Fei closed the book, turned off the light and went to sleep.

This was his day, simple and fulfilling.

Of course, what he thought was fulfilling was too boring in the eyes of others.

Friends once took him to a series of places they found lively and interesting, such as bars, KTVs, clubs, yachts, etc. No matter where they went, Lin Fei always looked expressionless. Even if he had fun, he wouldn’t be excited if he won. If he lost—oh, he wouldn’t lose. If he wasn’t completely sure, he wouldn’t play.

Someone asked him, “Aren’t you tired of living like this?”

Lin Fei felt very strange. Of course, he wasn’t tired. What was so tiring about living? He liked living. He wanted to live a bit longer to see what the world would become.

“But you don’t look like you are enjoying life at all. If the world ended tomorrow, wouldn’t you regret that you didn’t enjoy it better when you were alive?”

Of course not. Lin Fei thought that if the world ended tomorrow, he would at most want to see what the end of the world looked like. He might regret that he wouldn’t see what it would be like after the end of the world, but he would only regret it a little bit. That was all.

In essence, he had no attachment or feelings for this world. He had worked hard to grow up and live since he was a child just to see the world better.

He didn’t want to come here by himself only to leave in a daze.

Even now, with his success and wealth, he had no attachment to this world. If the end of the world really came one day, Lin Fei would just wait calmly and with no concern in order to see the so-called end of the world.

The life and death of the world had nothing to do with him. He seemed to value his life and death, but it always made people feel that he didn’t value it that much.

Lin Fei closed his eyes. As usual, driven by his biological clock, he fell asleep.

Only this time, he had a different dream from usual—he dreamed of himself as a child.

Lin Fei hadn’t dreamed of his younger self for a long time. When people grow up, they rarely dream about their childhood, let alone someone like him who had no attachment to his childhood.

But this time, he really and vividly saw himself, who was only 8 or 9 years old.

He was wearing expensive clothes as he sat in a classroom and looked down at his book.

Lin Fei didn’t understand why he would dream about himself at this age, just like he didn’t understand why he would let himself wear expensive and exquisite clothes in his dreams.

He clearly remembered that he had few clothes at this time. Lin Luoqing was too busy buying clothes for himself. How could he use the money to buy Lin Fei clothes? So Lin Fei always washed his clothes very clean, making them look like new.

He had very low requirements for material things. He wouldn’t feel sad because of this, nor would he feel that he needed compensation. Lin Fei didn’t quite understand why he changed clothes for himself in his dream. It wasn’t necessary and he didn’t think he needed to pay attention to these things.

He watched doubtfully for a while. Then the bell rang to signal the end of the class. The child packed his schoolbag and walked out the classroom door.

The classmates passing by waved to him and said, “Goodbye, Lin Fei.” He indifferently replied, “Goodbye,” and walked out.

He walked to the school gate and got into a car. Lin Fei saw it and felt even more confused.

Why was there a car?

He knew very well that when he was a child, he was either walking or taking a bus. A private car or taxi had nothing to do with him.

He also admitted that he didn’t care about these things. So why did he specifically let himself get into a private car in this dream?

Lin Fei was a bit confused.

This confusion became even worse when he saw Lin Luoqing in the car.

However, before he had time to think, he saw Lin Luoqing rubbing his head as a child and hugging him. “Do you miss Dad?”

Dad? Lin Fei felt that something wasn’t right about his dream.

The next second, he saw Lin Luoqing lowering his head and kissing his young self a few times. His young self might have disdain in his eyes, but he was more indulgent and helpless. He didn’t even move and was obedient. He leaned into Lin Luoqing’s arms and let Lin Luoqing kiss him, seemingly a bit happy.

Lin Fei, “……”

There was definitely something wrong with this dream.

“Kiss Dad,” he heard Lin Luoqing say to his young self.

Lin Fei sneered at the dream.

Sure enough, his young self didn’t kiss Lin Luoqing.

Lin Fei was a bit relieved now. But this peace of mind only lasted more than half an hour.

More than half an hour later, Lin Luoqing got out of the car with his young self.

Lin Fei opened the door to the villa courtyard and pulled his young self through. After crossing the courtyard, opening the door and walking in, Lin Fei saw his young self taking advantage of Lin Luoqing bending over to help take off the shoes to quickly kiss Lin Luoqing on the face. Then he quickly changed into slippers and walked through the entrance corridor as if he had done nothing.

Lin Fei, “……”

Lin Fei saw his young self’s reddish ears and then looked at Lin Luoqing, who was smiling. His gentleness was completely different from his previous impression. He didn’t know what to say for a while.

This obviously wasn’t the house he lived in with Lin Luoqing when he was a child. Why would they live here?

Why was he so close to Lin Luoqing?

In addition, shouldn’t Lin Luoqing hate him very much?

Lin Fei couldn’t understand it. He didn’t feel that he longed for Lin Luoqing’s love, let alone that he longed to own expensive clothes, private cars and a villa when he was young.

He knew very well that in his teenage years, the only thing he longed for was to grow up and study.

Material things and wealth had never been his focus, let alone Lin Luoqing.

So why did Lin Luoqing appear in his dream? Why did he have such a dream? Lin Fei couldn’t figure it out.

He followed his young self upstairs and watched as he pushed open a children’s room door and walked in.

“You’re back.” The person on the bed sat up.

Lin Fei watched from afar with slight surprise in his heart.

The other person was still very young and looked immature, different from the impression Lin Fei had of him, but Lin Fei still recognized him instantly. This was Ji Leyu. The Ji Leyu who held a wedding with dogs in order to humiliate Lin Luoqing.

Now, Lin Luoqing and Ji Leyu lived together.

Lin Fei felt a bit amused. His dream seemed to be becoming more and more chaotic.

“Yes,” little Lin Fei replied. “Are you feeling better?”

“Much better.”

“Then you can go to school tomorrow?”

Ji Leyu fell down instantly with a weak face. “I think I’m still a bit uncomfortable.”

Lin Fei, “……”

The young version of Lin Fei, “……”

“I’ll go back to school next week.” Ji Leyu’s voice was soft and his face was innocent. He looked cute and well-behaved, completely different from the flamboyant and domineering character in Lin Fei’s memory.

“Then you can talk to Dad later.”

“Dad came back to see me?!” Ji Leyu was surprised.

In the next second, there was a knock on the door. The door was pushed open again and Lin Luoqing walked in. “Xiao Yu, are you feeling better?”

“I’m much better,” Ji Leyu immediately shouted energetically.

“Really?” Lin Luoqing walked up to him with some worry and checked his complexion. “It seems that you are indeed feeling better than before.”

“Yes,” Ji Leyu nodded desperately.

Lin Luoqing smiled and rubbed his hair. “Then you can rest at home for two days. Then go to school when you are completely recovered.”

Ji Leyu was ecstatic and hugged Lin Luoqing. “Dad, you are the best.”

Lin Luoqing smiled. “But when you get better, you have to make up for the missed knowledge points.”

“Yes,” Ji Leyu replied obediently.

Lin Fei, “……”

Lin Fei felt that this dream was probably the exact opposite of reality. Ji Leyu hugged Lin Luoqing and called him Dad?

His dad was the best?

Was he joking?

Ji Leyu let Lin Luoqing marry a dog and then laughed at him for being a fool that even dogs would find disgusting.

This was really a boring and absurd dream. Lin Fei planned to leave.

However, he tried several times and found he couldn’t wake up.

Lin Fei had a strange feeling in his heart. Did people know they were dreaming when they dreamed?

He now knew clearly that this was a dream. So was it really a dream?

Lin Fei wasn’t very clear.

When he was a boy, he once thought about the story of Zhuang Zhou and the butterfly dream. However, he didn’t think of the result at that time. Now, it was the same.

He looked at his young self silently, which was completely different from what he remembered. He was looking at Lin Fei and Ji Leyu. Obviously, there was no expression but Lin Fei knew that his young self was very happy.

He loved the people in front of him very much, so much that just standing and looking at them made him feel happy.

This was something Lin Fei had never felt before.

After all, he never had a sincere affection for anyone.

Lin Fei watched himself quietly for a while and saw them going downstairs to eat.

He had just walked to the living room when a person entered through the door.

This was a person Lin Fei had never seen before, but he heard Ji Leyu call him ‘Father.’

The other person had the same phoenix eyes as the grown-up Ji Leyu. His overall appearance was similar. If Lin Fei guessed correctly, he should be Ji Leyu’s uncle Ji Yuxiao.

“Are you feeling better?” He saw Ji Yuxiao walking to Ji Leyu’s side and asked with concern, “Are you still feeling uncomfortable today?”

“I’m not uncomfortable.” Ji Leyu smiled. “You came back early today.”

“I was worried about you.” Ji Yuxiao pinched Ji Leyu’s face. Then he looked over at Lin Luoqing. “Besides, your dad is back too.”

There was obvious affection in his eyes. Lin Luoqing looked into his eyes and couldn’t help smiling. Affection surged. It was just as Lin Fei thought. They were indeed a couple.

So what was the current situation?

If Lin Luoqing and Ji Yuxiao got married back then, what would have become of him and Ji Leyu?

But he didn’t care about this. This shouldn’t appear in his dream but in Ji Leyu’s dream. After all, Ji Leyu had been obsessed with this matter for many years.

Lin Fei wasn’t the one who hated Lin Luoqing for rejecting and humiliating Ji Yuxiao—he didn’t even know about it before.

It was Ji Leyu who was very worried about this matter and even used a dog to humiliate Lin Luoqing.

So why let him dream, no, why let him see this?

It wasn’t necessary at all.

He had no feelings for Lin Luoqing. He had long been relieved about what happened in the past. He didn’t feel that he needed to make up for it, nor did he want to change anything. He accepted everything he encountered calmly. He had long stopped caring about Lin Luoqing.

Everything in front of him was meaningless to him. It shouldn’t appear in front of him but in front of Ji Leyu.

Lin Fei tried to leave this illusory dream, but still couldn’t. He could only stand not far away and continue to stare at his young self, who hadn’t grown up yet.

After dinner, little Lin Fei and Ji Leyu went upstairs together to a bedroom he had never seen before.

This should be his bedroom in this villa, for no reason other than that there was a large desk and a small bookshelf with many books.

Ji Leyu sat at the desk and read for a while. He seemed to be sleepy and lay down quietly at the desk.

Lin Fei shook him awake and asked him to go to bed.

Ji Leyu was reluctant. “I want to stay with you. I haven’t seen you all day.”

There was subconscious coquettishness in his words as if he was very dependent on the other person.

Lin Fei listened to him, picked up a book and said helplessly, “I’ll go read it on the bed.”

Ji Leyu stood up happily and got into bed with him.

He watched little Lin Fei sit on the bed. Ji Leyu was lying next to him, hugging his waist slightly. He said in a spoiled manner, “Touch.”

Touch? Lin Fei was a bit confused. What was he touching?

The next second, he saw little Lin Fei raise his hand and touch Ji Leyu’s head. Ji Leyu closed his eyes with peace of mind. His expression was happy, like a cat being petted.

Lin Fei, “……”

It seemed that the relationship between the two of them was better than he thought.

After a while, Lin Luoqing walked in with a plate of desserts in his hand. He probably wasn’t expecting Ji Leyu to already be sleeping. There was slight surprise on his face.

“Xiao Yu is sleeping?” He asked in a low voice.

Little Lin Fei nodded. Lin Luoqing put the desserts on the bedside table. “Then you can eat them alone. Remember to brush your teeth after eating.”

“Yes,” little Lin Fei replied softly.

Lin Luoqing touched his hair lovingly. He said a few words to Lin Fei before kissing him and reluctantly walking out.

Lin Fei stood not far away, watching quietly. He didn’t know when this dream would end.
