The sculpture classroom wasnβt as neat and clean as other classrooms.
Scattered easels and plastic tables were placed randomly in the center of the classroom. More than a dozen plastic tables were crowded in this small classroom, and they didnβt interfere with each other.
Most senior students had new goals. Almost all of them no longer came to the sculpture room. Therefore, many sculpture tables were tightly wrapped in plastic sheets. It seemed they hadnβt been used in a long time.
You Mianβs sculpture platform was the only one here that was still fresh and had traces of use.
The moment Pei Huaiji was about to step in, You Mian reminded him, βThere is clay and gypsum on the ground. Donβt stain your shoes and pants.β
You Mian often spent time here. He had long changed into pants and shoes that could be thrown away at will.
However, Pei Huaiji in front of him was wearing straight pants and leather shoes. The black shirt on his upper body was ironed crisply and his pants were draped beautifully, falling straight down.
Obviously, the price wasnβt cheap.
You Mian felt distressed about such a set of clothes being dirtied like this.
A trace of emotion appeared on Pei Huaijiβs serious face. He didnβt give an answer to You Mianβs reminder just now. Instead, he stepped straight into the mud and dust.
The high-end leather shoes stepped on the scattered clay and mud on the floor of the sculpture room without hesitation.
Pei Huaiji walked up to You Mian without changing his expression. His deep eyes were as rational and calm as usual, but his words were unusually free and easy.
βThis close distance is the best viewing position a viewer can have. As a birthday gift, I naturally want the front row that is hard to get a ticket for.β
You Mian smiled helplessly. He saw that Pei Huaiji himself had taken the initiative to walk in and couldnβt push this person out.
The moon was very big tonight. It spilled through the windows of the classroom onto the sculpture in front of the two of them.
The sculpture wasnβt very large. It was only 60-70 centimeters and was so delicate that it could be placed on a bookcase.
There were no lights on in the classroom.
Perhaps You Mian had already planned it, but he saw the hazy moonlight pass through the thick iron clouds and fall into the eyes of the blind man. At the same time, this ray of moonlight also brushed the orange-red star in the iron clouds.
Pei Huaiji inevitably thought of You Mianβs night blindness.
The little manβs struggling face and wide-open nose and mouth looked so pained, tortured, and desperate.
But the star in the clouds was so bright, so low that hope seemed within reach.
βYou Mian.β
Pei Huaijiβs voice was a bit hoarse, and the appreciation in his eyes almost turned into a real substance. Finally, it condensed into a sentence under the cold eyes filled with restraint. βThis is the most beautiful birthday gift I have ever received. Thank you.β
Thank you for giving me the first viewing.
You Mian put down his backpack and bent down to lift the plastic film on the clay bucket placed beside him. He smiled and said, βIn fact, it is a bit unfortunate. It would look better when the sun is shining.β
The idea of his design was to let the sunlight shine through. The intense light would make the star in the cloud shine brighter. It would also make the black iron body of the little man appear more gloomy. The contrast would be very large.
βReally?β
Once Pei Huaiji heard it, he said, βThe βall thingsβ under the moon belong to me alone.β
You Mian happened to be digging out a handful of mud. Once he heard this, he froze while bent over in a stunned manner.
The young manβs eyes curved as he turned his head and smiled. βYes.β
βI testify that the words Pei Huaiji are now engraved on it. It is exclusive to the birthday boy.β
He didnβt seem to know what his words meant, but this was enough to make Pei Huaijiβs ears become agitated.
The man pursed his thin lips in a restrained manner and lowered his eyes with forbearance.
However, the surprise seemed to be more than this. You Mian pulled a clean wooden chair from the side and pushed it to Pei Huaiji, saying, βSit down first. It will be ready soon.β
Pei Huaiji sat down without hesitation.
You Mian brought a curved plastic table and put it in front of Pei Huaiji. After disassembling the plastic cover, he bent down and dug out a few handfuls from his mud bucket.
Fixing, molding, and shaping.
This was a clay sculpture that was about to take shape. It was much smaller than βall things.β
The little manβs hair was neat and clean, the shirt on his body was crisply ironed, and he had broad shoulders and long legs…
You Mian carefully lowered his eyes and used a carving pen to trace the little manβs facial features. There was the bridge of the nose, the deep eyebrows and eyes, and the thin lips that were often coldly pursed.
Pei Huaiji gradually held his breath because he seemed to know what You Mian was making.
Once the facial features were all portrayed and perfected, You Mian neatly dug at the position of the little manβs chest.
Pei Huaiji sat opposite him and felt as if his heart had been dug out.
You Mian stared down at the clay figurine in his hand without raising his head. He used a few strokes and carved a five-pointed star out of new clay.
Then he carefully, cautiously, and gently placed it into the chest of the little man that had been hollowed out.
Pei Huaijiβs eyes were surging with emotion. His Adamβs apple moved up and down.
You Mian quickly changed the little manβs hand into a posture of gently wrapping his hands around his chest, as if hugging the star to his chest.
Huaiji (heart sky clearing up).
There was bright wind and moonlight in his heart. The rain, snow, and haze were swept away, and the sky cleared up.
You Mian finally looked up at Pei Huaiji and asked, βCan I leave a message? What do you want me to write?β
βI can write something like good health, good fortune, or other auspicious words.β
You Mian thought that since this was a birthday gift for someone, it would be better to write happy and auspicious words on it.
Pei Huaiji was silent for a few seconds while appreciation and admiration filled his eyes.
He replied, βJust carve the words βPei Huaijiβ.β
It was exclusive.
You Mian was stunned. βJust carve your name?β
Then when thinking about it, Pei Huaijiβs name was pretty and lucky enough. Carving this was indeed in line with an auspicious meaning.
βYes, just engrave the name,β Pei Huaiji said.
You Mian nodded. He lowered his eyes and carefully carved the words.
He had never written another personβs name so seriously, and it was on a sculpture.
Unexpectedly, the first viewing right and the first name carving were all given to Pei Huaiji.
You Mian never thought he would be so deeply involved with Pei Huaiji in this life and become friends.
After writing Ji, You Mian finally straightened up. The clay sculpture stood quietly on top of the sculpture platform, and Pei Huaiji stared at it intently.
βIt is a bit sloppy.β You Mian smiled sheepishly. βIf you arenβt in a hurry, I can polish it well in the next two days. It is best to change it to plaster or iron.β
Pei Huaiji looked up and said seriously, βThis is very good. I like it very much.β
You Mian was burned by the joy in Pei Huaijiβs eyes. He didnβt know why his ears felt slightly hot.
It was late, almost approaching midnight.
You Mian washed his hands and walked out of the campus beside Pei Huaiji.
βHow do you plan to get back? Do you need to call a driver?β You Mian asked in the evening breeze.
The breeze blew away Pei Huaijiβs drunkenness, but it couldnβt blow away his turbulent and complicated emotions at this moment.
I donβt want to leave, I donβt want to leave like this.
For the first time, Pei Huaiji wanted to be less restrained.
He tilted his head, lowered his eyes, and said, βIβll take you back.β
Stay a bit longer. For the first time in his life, Pei Huaiji was no longer so self-disciplined and restrained. He wanted to send the person he liked home.
You Mian didnβt hesitate at all when he heard this. Wasnβt this a situation where friends didnβt want to leave while having fun, so they followed each other home?
He pointed to the apartment in the distance near the subway station and said, βGo past two traffic lights. I live there.β
You Mian said, βLetβs go.β
Pei Huaiji was happy to send You Mian home, but he was also frustrated by You Mianβs friend-like attitude.
The two of them walked side by side to the downstairs of the apartment building. Along the way, the crowd gradually turned from lively to deserted.
Pei Huaiji stopped at the door of the apartment building.
You Mian waved at him. The young man smiled brightly with beautiful eyes. βI wonβt see you off. Goodbye!β
Pei Huaiji nodded slightly. Once You Mian walked in, got on the elevator, and could no longer be seen, the man said in a deep voice, βGood night and sweet dreams.β
Early the next morning, JL headquarters.
The employees of the project team were so exhausted after partying all night that they couldnβt get up from their workstations.
βDid Chairman Pei go back first last night? I didnβt see him for the next few places.β
βYou mustβve been drunk after the first venue. Chairman Pei left first after eating. He didnβt even go to the next venue.β
βEveryone, sober up. The circles under your eyes are as dark as giant pandas. Be careful that Chairman Pei will look at you.β
βI canβt compare, I canβt compare. Chairman Pei is a ruthless person who can wear a suit for three or four days without wrinkling it. If I try it, I will be extremely sloppy.β
In the midst of the early morning gossip, everyone heard Vivianβs characteristic high heels.
Vivianβs stiletto heels were like a sign that Pei Huaiji was about to come over. Once everyone saw Pei Huaiji, they immediately stopped gossiping and looked at the computer screen in front of them, instantly going into work mode.
βGood morning, everyone.β Vivian nodded beautifully. Her exquisite professional attire was a splash of color in the JL Building.
The group of people smiled brightly. βGood morning~β
Sure enough, Pei Huaiji was following closely behind and walked out of the elevator.
The manβs suit was crisply ironed and the black tie clip held the dark red tie firmly to his chest. His leather shoes made a dull sound on the ground.
The stern side profile and sharp eyes were the same as always.
Just as everyone thought that Pei Huaiji would quickly walk to his office, the man suddenly turned his head slightly. He nodded lightly in the direction of the workstations and said, βGood morning, everyone.β
Everyone: β!!!β
βChairman Pei.β
βGood morning, Chairman Pei.β
After saying hello, Pei Huaiji went straight to the office. He left behind a group of people looking at each other.
βOh my god, Chairman Pei is proud like a spring breeze. Did he smile just now? Or am I crazy?β
βHe isnβt smiling. You saw it correctly. Chairman Pei still has the same ice cube face.β
βCould it be that his temper has changed after his birthday? Donβt people say that men are relatively experienced in all aspects at the age of 30?β
β……β
It wasnβt just the people at the workstations. Vivian in front was also stunned when she heard Pei Huaiji greeting others.
It had to be known that Pei Huaiji always believed in time efficiency and never put unnecessary things in his eyes.
This greeting was truly an exception.
Before Vivian could continue thinking about it, Pei Huaiji walked into the office and handed her a beautifully packaged gift box.
βHave someone from the logistics department come over, take down the gold label trophy from the bookcase, and replace it with this one.β
Vivian carefully took the gift box and was stunned when she heard this.
That gold label trophy was facing Pei Huaijiβs desk. It was the first project worth over 100 million yuan that he won when he first became JLβs chairman. The gold label that was officially given by the association lost its status like this?
Pei Huaiji didnβt say a word after this. He returned to his desk after giving instructions.
Just as Vivian was about to turn around and leave, Pei Huaiji specially said, βHold it carefully. Donβt drop it.β
Vivian immediately raised her attention by 120%. She walked out with the gift box and called a person in the logistics department.
Five minutes later, Pei Huaiji looked up from the pile of documents and saw the small clay sculpture placed on the opposite bookcase. He had a very satisfied look on his face.
Vivian sat at her desk outside in despair, thinking to herself, βChairman Pei actually exchanged the gold label for a clay figurine! This is the gold label! Projects with a target value of over 100 million yuan must obtain the unanimous approval of 12 votes from the Chamber of Commerce in order to obtain the most valuable gold label that is given out once every five years!β
It was actually defeated by a clay figurine of a little man.
A few minutes later, Vivian was stunned when she saw Chairman Pei as she was looking at her Moments.
The person who never posted on WeChat Moments since registering a WeChat account actually posted a photo!
The caption was simple but he actually posted it!
The photo showed the same clay sculpture, placed securely on the desk at Pei Huaijiβs home. It seemed to have been taken late at night. The warm yellow book lamp fell on top of the little manβs head.
Captain: [9.15]
The moment Vivian saw this post in her Moments, most of her shock at the gold label being replaced disappeared instantly.
Chairman Pei posted it on his WeChat Moments. Therefore, it didnβt seem to be a big deal to replace the gold label.
Vivian: β……β

Thanks for the chapter! ML is very cute, lol
Thanks for the update! ππππ
Hmm, clay figurines aren’t something I’d hand off immediately after completing them unless they’re sculpted from a very hard modeling polymer clay. Personally, I’d opt for hard black modeling wax instead if I wanted to sculpt something for immediate display. That kind of modeling wax is very hard and relatively heat resistant, so it’s suitable. Otherwise, a fresh clay sculpture is very prone to damage. Of course, this is all theoretical. I absolutely suck at sculpting things, particularly from imagination. I don’t have a visual imagination, so figuring out how things should be shaped in three dimensions is particularly challenging for me.
This was my favourite chapter till now π
Guys why is there a huge green flag behind chairman Pei? The green is blinding me
why are these 2 so cute? π
How cute! President Pei has finally fallen in love for real… Hahaha, there’s no going back now!
Thank you for the chapter! π
