The woman hidden among the leaves had her face smeared with plant sap so it couldn’t be seen clearly. However, the outline of her facial features was very delicate and her purple eyes revealed a type of wild sharpness.

Her silver hair was very short and tied into a small ponytail behind her. The ends of her hair were flat and neat, as if they had been cut off by a sharp blade.

For a moment, the woman was a bit sluggish as she felt the magic power suddenly surging in her body. The long-eared beast in the distance seemed to feel something and jumped to escape.

The wind blade that had been waiting for an opportunity flew out and slit its throat with precision.

Blood splattered.

The long-eared beast didn’t die immediately. It stomped on a rock and the rock shattered into several pieces. Its body was like a projectile as it shot forward and fled at high speed into the distance.

Then the fleeing long-eared beast crashed into a transparent wall.

The instantaneous impact made the face of the woman who controlled the wind element sink. It was estimated that in normal circumstances, this long-eared beast would have escaped. However, her magic power had just broken through so she could handle it with ease.

The long-eared beast, who had been jumping fiercely, was severely injured again after hitting the wind wall. Its body fell softly to the ground and it died of suffocation and serious head injuries.

The wind elements that were originally distributed around gradually contracted, controlling the smell of blood to a smaller and smaller area and finally tightly wrapping around the corpse.

The roar of the interstellar beasts broke out behind her. The woman didn’t stop but just ran faster.

Her figure traveled quickly through the forest. Due to the blessing of flying and the Light Body technique, she was as fast as a guest of wind. She finally came to a pile of rocks, moved the rocks away and skillfully entered the cave below.

She controlled the rocks to block the cave again but before she could cover it with a wind shield, a shadow came through a crack in the rocks.

The shadow was a bearded man with three scars left by sharp claws on his face. He looked ferocious and terrifying but his grin was a bit honest and simple.

“Your Highness!” The man called out respectfully.

Silin nodded but didn’t speak immediately. She waved her hand and placed a wind shield at the entrance of the cave to prevent the smell of the cave from wafting out and causing unnecessary trouble.

After finishing the defense, she looked at her companion.

She thought of the sudden surge of magic power just now and couldn’t help asking, “Brady, did anything unusual happen today?”

Brady shook his head and sighed. “I originally found a lone elk beast but was outflanked by other elk beasts halfway through the fight. Fortunately, I ran fast enough.”

“These interstellar beasts seem like they have become refined. They know how to set traps now!”

He grumbled and opened the animal skin pouch at his waist. “I only found some pine cones.”

The pine cones were very large. One was the size of a fist and the husk was naturally very hard. After roasting it with fire, it would become crispy and the flesh inside would become very delicious.

Silin smiled and patted him on the shoulder. “Very good! My brother likes to eat these pine cones!”

Silin said casually before hurrying toward the end of the passage.

The underground passage was dimly lit but she had been taking this path for almost three years. She could walk it even with her eyes closed, let alone when there was a faint light at the end of the passage.

This light was like a beacon guiding a ship back to port. It was the motivation that sustained her in such difficult circumstances.

This was the former border of the Roland Empire, which was tens of thousands of kilometers away from Imperial City. After the beast wave, it had been reoccupied by interstellar beasts.

All the military defense lines had been destroyed. For the past three years, she and several survivors had been hiding in this underground cave to survive. They had completely lost contact with the outside world.

She didn’t know what was happening in the empire now or if the rest of her relatives were still alive.

The communication base station was destroyed and her communicator lost its function. She didn’t even know if the empire that once existed as a belief in her life had perished in the beast wave.

She probably wouldn’t be able to return in her lifetime.

It was a distance of tens of thousands of kilometers. Right now, they were barely surviving in the wild and didn’t have the strength to break through the encirclement of interstellar beasts to return to the homeland they didn’t know still existed or not.

Yet today, things had taken a turn.

She had been stuck at two stars for many years and had been stagnant, but she suddenly broke through the bottleneck! She actually felt her magic grow and it wasn’t her delusion.

Silin thought of this and her steps became even more urgent.

She even used the Light Body technique. The moment she entered the cave at the end of the passage, two remaining soldiers greeted her.

There were many people who survived the beast wave and there were those who died while hunting in the past three years. Now there were only seven people left and there were still two elementalist warriors who hadn’t come back.

“Your Highness!”

These two soldiers were ordinary people and were injured in the beast wave. It was a situation where they would die if they went outside so they usually stayed in the cave.

Silin saw that their expressions were normal and knew that no accidents occurred when she was hunting. She nodded at them and said, “The prey is with Brady. You can go and help him deal with it.”

“Yes!”

They limped to the other side of the passage to find Brady while Silin walked deeper into the cave.

This underground cave was the size of a palace. It was originally only the size of a room but after being transformed and reinforced by an earth elementalist, it could barely be inhabited.

Silin walked straight to the deepest room, came to the door and paused slightly.

She looked at the door made of simple wooden planks and pursed her lips. Then she bent her fingers to knock on the door.

Knock knock knock.

The clear knocking sound rang out in the silent cave and there was an echo.

Soon, a man’s slightly dull voice was heard from inside the room. “Come in.”

Silin took a deep breath, pushed open the door with an excited smile and walked in.

“Brother, did you sense it?”

She headed straight to the only wooden bed in the room.

This room was around 10 square meters. The conditions were simple but it was very comfortable. Due to the unique design, the light on the ground could penetrate and shine onto the bedside.

The man sitting at the head of the bed had long silver hair that was almost falling to the bed board. He was handsome and his complexion was as white as snow. He looked too beautiful to be real in the daylight.

However, if she continued looking down then she would see his empty right arm sleeve and legs missing below the knees.

His expression was flat and calm but when looking closely, there was a type of soulless hollowness.

Silin endured her heartache and crouched down next to the bed with a grin. “Brother, I broke through! Did you sense it?”

The man looked sideways at her and there was finally a bit more light in his dead purple eyes as he nodded. “Yes, I also broke through.”

“Really?”

Silin was a bit surprised. “You said before that we couldn’t break through after two stars because we were likely sealed by some type of force. Now we can suddenly continue to improve. Does this mean the seal has been unlocked?”

Xenos saw her excited expression and understood the reason for her excitement. He followed along with her words. “Yes, it is very likely.”

“It must’ve been released by Imperial Father!” Silin exclaimed. “You said that he was the first one to propose this theory, right?”

Xenos paused slightly and nodded.

“Does this mean… Imperial Father and the others are still alive? The empire hasn’t completely perished?”

Silin pulled at Xenos’ only remaining hand and her eyes were red like a rabbit.

Seeing her eyes that were filled with hope and suppressed pain, Xenos’ throat was a bit dry. He raised his left arm and gently touched the top of her head.

Silin blinked hard and told him softly, “Brother, Imperial Father is still alive and he will definitely come to pick us up. Once we return to Imperial City, we can buy the most advanced technology from the Interstellar Alliance.”

“Your body will be healed, definitely!”

Xenos didn’t say anything. He just took her into his arms and patted her gently on the back.

Silin leaned against him and clenched her fists while biting her lower lip.

The beast wave broke out too quickly that day. They miscalculated the scale of the beast wave and this caused the failure to evacuate some soldiers and civilians in time.

The military barriers of the front lines were overwhelmed by the crazy high level interstellar beasts and everything was over.

Her comrades-in-arms and her people died in large numbers in front of her, helplessly losing their lives under the trampling of the interstellar beasts.

Under Brady’s protection, she barely escaped with her brother before some interstellar beasts caught up with her.

Her magic power had been exhausted and she could only make a final struggle with her mortal body. She was desperate and mentally prepared to die in the fight.

As a result, Brady discovered a cave on the way.

The entrance to the cave, which could only fit one person, became their last hope.

At the last moment, her brother chose to let Brady use his last shadow power to escape into the cave with her while he stayed at the entrance of the cave to resist the interstellar beasts. Once they entered safely then he followed them in.

However, the interstellar beast that followed closely didn’t let him go at all and bit his legs from behind.

After her brother entered the cave, he forcibly released ice cubes to block the entrance of the cave despite his severe pain. He insisted on holding on for ten minutes before the interstellar beasts outside dispersed.

After that, Xenos was in a coma for two weeks.

In addition to his legs, his arm also had a poisonous bite. If it wasn’t treated, it would spread to the heart. Brady had to reluctantly amputate it.

During the coma, he had a fever and hung on with what little medicine they had remaining. Then he woke up and performed a water healing technique to treat himself.

However, water healing couldn’t grow back severed limbs.
