PFRG: Chapter 216

Dreamweaver (2)

Chi Ting’s attitude didn’t anger No 7. He just stood there while smiling. “So, what do you want to know?”

Chi Ting thought for a moment before saying, “Let’s talk about this first… You call it the Dreamweaver Land, right?”

No 7 asked back with interest, “What do you think this is?”

“Based on what I see now—” Chi Ting was frank about his thoughts. “It feels like the beginning of the unlimited world. But the name ‘Dreamweaver’ means that the beginning of this unlimited world is a dream itself?”

“You could say that.” No 7 smiled and looked up at the entire wall of screens. “Initially when we came here, there was only one screen at first. The dreamweaver tree outside was just a small sapling. From the 1st world to the current 13th World, we have constructed new worlds bit by bit in this place.”

At this point, he smiled slightly. “You should’ve seen it when you came in just now. The dreamweaver tree is well irrigated by us.”

“It is quite nice. It has lush branches and leaves.” Chi Ting affirmed this point, but he also keenly grasped the key information in the words. “But you just said when ‘you’ just came. The ‘you’ here refers to the designers?”

“Yes. Thinking back carefully, we should indeed be thankful that just before our world was completely destroyed, No 1 used his ability to create and bring us here.”

The memories of the past made No 7 reveal a rare sigh of emotion. “This was undoubtedly a very risky decision, but it was also our last chance. As the last survivors of the original world, we could only survive in this desperate situation by rebuilding a new world of our own in this turbulent space. You don’t understand how long it took. We used our dreams as nutrients and finally created the original instance space under the nurturing of the dreamweaver tree. It was also from this moment that the rules of this world were created bit by bit.”

Chi Ting said calmly, “It sounds like you were just ordinary pioneers at the time. If I’m not mistaken, the so-called ultimate instance I just experienced should actually be what the ‘instances’ in this world should originally look like, right?”

No 7 gave him an approving look. “Ah Ting, you are really smart.”

Chi Ting was noncommittal. “It feels like a very deep dream, and I don’t remember what happened specifically, but one thing I can be sure of is that the dream world that the dreamweaver tree gave me was definitely very beautiful. At the very least, it was a beautiful dream that made people smile when they woke up. This type of clearance experience is much better than the messy arrangements made by you designers before.”

No 7 just laughed off the words ‘messy arrangements.’ He said, “The dreamweaver tree can turn people’s subconscious expectations into reality. This was also No 1’s original idea. We are the last few people left in the world. Originally, according to his idea, he intended to use his thoughts to construct a brand new world that belonged only to us.”

Chi Ting raised an eyebrow slightly. “But?”

“However, we alone weren’t enough to support the growth of the dreamweaver tree,” No 7 continued to speak while following Chi Ting’s words. “We can only say that we were lucky. Once this chaotic space-time gradually stabilized with the birth of several initial spaces, we found that through these ‘doors’, we could travel through different times and spaces. After constant attempts, No 1 was the first to discover that the destroyed world fragments could be brought back to the Dreamweaver Land before they completely dissipated. Therefore, the humans brought back with the world fragments also became the best nutrients for watering the dreamweaver tree. Then as the number of world fragments brought back gradually increased, the dreamweaver tree didn’t need so many thoughts to provide nourishment. In order to better accommodate the humans who had nowhere to go, the 1st World was born.”

Chi Ting didn’t say anything for a long time. No 7 looked over and said, “I know what you want to say. Using other worlds as stepping stones for the new world is a very bad and dirty method. I don’t deny that. But think about it from another perspective. Being able to be brought back in the form of fragments means that the world has completely ceased to exist. Those people are just like our group in the beginning. They should’ve completely disappeared with their world, but they instead obtained a new identity of ‘player.’ In a way, how can it not be considered as us giving them a new life?”

Chi Ting pondered on it with interest. He laughed out loud when he heard No 7’s condescending tone. “Give them a new life? It sounds like words that only the God of Creation would use.”

“Creating a brand new world, formulating complete rules, and screening the players who finally stayed. In a way, how can it not count…” No 7 smiled very gently. “This was originally the world created by No 1 with his ability. He delegated the ‘Rule Authority’ to all designers, and everything gradually got on track. The energy of the dreamweaver tree can only support a certain number of players. As new people gradually joined in, it means that the last ones must be eliminated. We provide the most fair competition platform in the form of instances. On the other hand, we also provide a channel for them to reach the top.”

Chi Ting said, “The two Jokers.”

“That’s what No 1 meant,” No 7 stated slowly, but he didn’t hide his contempt in the slightest. “He wanted to ensure the fairness of the decision. He wanted to give those who came here from other worlds an opportunity that everyone can have. The number of designers once decreased as this world developed. He gave the selected people the qualifications to enter the ultimate instance, hoping that they would understand the true meaning behind the ultimate instance and this world. He wanted to find a new designer, or even—his successor.”

“So, Lou Yueren was the first and only unlucky guy to be chosen.” Chi Ting recalled the memories he read from Lou Yueren’s mind and suddenly realized. “To get out of the ultimate instance, you only need a strong enough personal will. He naturally came here in the end, but… you stabbed him in the back.”

No 7 sneered. “The balance of the unlimited world doesn’t need so many designers. Opening the so-called passage below was the most wrong decision made by No 1.”

Chi Ting just looked at No 7.

There was no doubt that from the beginning, the content of every sentence was extremely bizarre, but it was enough to quietly connect all the clues bit by bit.

The complete past gradually formed a clear image. Vaguely, one could probably imagine how the survivors grasped the last ray of hope in the final despair when the world completely collapsed.

Yes, there was nothing wrong with wanting to regain everything they had lost and to create a whole new world, but where did this all start to change?

It was probably from the moment that the 1st World was born.

Originally, they were all ordinary mortals. Then once they grasped absolute power without warning, all their greed and desires were enough to change their original intentions. The absolute power that was enough to manipulate everyone was enough to make them forget that they were once one of those struggling humans. What was left was only the absolute pleasure of holding the power of life and death.

The dreamweaver trees outside had obviously grown to a level sufficient to maintain the absolute stability of this world. The unlimited world that was still expanding had already become a game park for designers to kill time. The beautiful dream worlds that were supposed to be woven by the dreamweaver tree had, unknowingly, become nightmare cages that players couldn’t escape from.

Later on, perhaps even those designers had strong disagreements among themselves. This made it possible for No 7 to no longer hide his ambitions. His true face beneath his gentle appearance was revealed.

“I see. That is why you came to me.” Chi Ting looked at the sanctimonious man in front of him and said slowly, “Sure enough, you really put a lot of effort into this matter of ‘killing a god’.”

Such words sounded full of emotion. Chi Ting lowered his eyelids silently, hiding the faint contempt in his eyes.

At first glance, it did sound like an extremely candid self-analysis. However, he could only believe half of what this person said. Behind such a light-hearted description, there might be a cruel and bloody truth hidden. For example, were the so-called fragments of the world really all brought back by mere ‘bystanders.’

“This is probably fate. I can’t count how many worlds I’ve entered before, but I always came back empty-handed. This was until I finally met you.”

No 7 stepped forward and walked step by step to Chi Ting. He leaned over gracefully, lifted the back of Chi Ting’s hand, and kissed it gently. He raised his eyes and looked into Chi Ting’s eyes with a smile. “No 1 should’ve felt tired after staying in that position for a long time. Since there must be a god in the unlimited world, why can’t it be me? Don’t you think so?”

Chi Ting calmly pulled his hand back. “Let me guess. So the situation now is—you are controlling him.”

No 7 maintained his original posture, smiling without saying a word.

Chi Ting paused before continuing, “Due to this, you are in great trouble.”

He saw that the person in front of him still had no response, so Chi Ting slowly put down his crossed legs and couldn’t help laughing. “I told you a long time ago not to use this ability casually.”

—In the future, you shouldn’t use this ability unless it is necessary.

—Why?

—This special ability of yours is very dangerous. It will backfire sooner or later.

All of a sudden, vague memories of the past flashed through the minds of both people at the same time.

There was a subtle silence before No 7 suddenly spoke. “Yes, you said so. But at that time… it was already too late.”

He slowly stood up and looked at Chi Ting steadily. “Since you know everything, are you willing to go with me to meet him now?

“Him?”

Qi Xiu smiled slightly. “The creator of this world, No 1.”
