MGAG: Chapter 97 Part 1

The sound of rain outside seemed to be louder. Chen Qizhao’s hand instinctively tightened on Shen Yuhuai’s shoulder. After the sentence, ‘I won’t’, the atmosphere between the two of them seemed to fall into a long silence. It seemed that a long time had passed, but it also seemed like only a few seconds had passed.

Chen Qizhao lowered his eyes slightly. He rubbed his fingertips on Shen Yuhuai’s shoulder and touched Shen Yuhuai’s collarbone through his clothes. After calming down, he could feel the other person’s powerful and lively heartbeat from the subtle vibration in the chest cavity.

It was hot and fervent.

This man didn’t do anything else. He just let Chen Qizhao touch him while looking at him calmly.

After the movements slowed down, Shen Yuhuai asked, “Come down? We’ve been here for a long time.”

Chen Qizhao looked at Shen Yuhuai and suddenly said, “My clothes are wet.”

Shen Yuhuai looked stunned. He finally noticed the wet countertop of the washstand and the water stains on Chen Qizhao’s clothes.

Outside the ward, Chen Shiming finished his phone call. He had just entered the room when the door of the bathroom not far away opened. Shen Yuhuai walked out, but Chen Qizhao wasn’t seen. He was slightly surprised by this situation. His inquiring eyes stopped on Shen Yuhuai for a while, always feeling something strange.

The glass window had a limited view, and he couldn’t see the side of the bathroom.

He remembered that when he answered the phone just now, he didn’t seem to have seen Shen Yuhuai much.

“Where are his clothes?” Shen Yuhuai asked in his usual tone. “He wants to take a shower.”

Chen Shiming heard this and had to walk over to get a change of clothes. He walked to the bathroom door and knocked. Then Chen Qizhao reached out to take it. He suppressed the surprised feeling in his heart. Then when he turned around, he happened to see Zhang Yazhi coming back. He walked over and exchanged a few words with her.

The sound of water soon came from the bathroom. Seeing Zhang Yazhi staying in the ward, Chen Shiming’s eyes paused on Shen Yuhuai for a moment.

Shen Yuhuai noticed his eyes and saw him walking out. “Aunt Zhang, I’ll go out first.”

Zhang Yazhi replied, “It’s okay, you can go. I’ll just watch here.”

The corridors at night were quieter. There were fewer doctors and nurses walking around.

There was only a nurse’s station in the distance outside the senior ward. Once Chen Shiming called this person out, he couldn’t help his tone sinking a bit. “Did the doctor say anything when you went to him just now?”

“No.” Shen Yuhuai had gone to the doctor’s office with Zhang Yazhi not long ago. The doctor mentioned Chen Qizhao’s reaction to the medication and the emotional changes during this period. He obviously cooperated with the medication for a period of time, but Chen Qizhao’s performance was no different from the beginning. Instead, the side effects of the medicine started to change significantly.

Shen Yuhuai thought of Chen Qizhao’s eyes in the bathroom just now. He was about to speak when he heard Chen Shiming say, “He seems to be afraid that something will happen to us.”

Chen Shiming’s eyes stopped on the chair opposite him. “It is a bit strange to say, but he really cares about this.

Chen Shiming thought about the reason for Chen Qizhao’s anxiety. The biggest reason they considered should be the matter with Lin Medical and the Gu family. Chen Qizhao had spent too much energy on these things. This was why Chen Shiming brought some relevant news to Chen Qizhao as much as possible, hoping to alleviate his worries about these things. In fact, there wasn’t much improvement. It wasn’t until today that Chen Qizhao’s sudden reaction reminded him of some details he had overlooked before.

“He was very worried that I would be in a car accident and paralyzed. He was also worried that my father would have a cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction.” Chen Shiming’s tone was a bit hesitant. But at this time, he seemed to have peeled back these details bit by bit and was exploring them. “Several times, he said these assumptions when he was emotional.”

Chen Shiming recalled the situation at that time. From Chen Qizhao’s mouth, a matter that had settled down became an uncertain factor that could occur at any time. He always imagined the problem to the extreme and in a terrible direction so as to make the outcome of a matter as the most extreme ending. Chen Qizhao imagined that he was paralyzed in a car accident and also imagined the irreversible end due to their father’s cerebral hemorrhage. He even thought that the Chen Group would eventually go bankrupt under the oppression of the Lin family and Gu family.

As they were still thinking of a solution, Chen Qizhao had already imagined the most terrible result and adopted a more extreme method to prevent this result from happening. He seemed to be experiencing that terrible and absurd dream and was working hard to reverse the ending of that dream.

Shen Yuhuai lowered his eyes slightly. He thought about Chen Qizhao’s abrupt question in the bathroom and said, “What he is anxious about might not be the Lin Group’s business. It might be your safety.”

Chen Shiming’s heart sank. “I’ll talk to the doctor.”

The doctor was still on duty tonight. He heard Chen Shiming’s words and was silent for a moment. Then he said, “This means his situation is a bit different from the patients I have been in contact with previously. For most patients with anxiety that I have contacted, their reasons are all their own. For example, when it comes to the topic of death, some patients might be very anxious about their own death and fear all the suspicious factors that lead to their death. For people like him, who will be anxious because they aren’t certain about the safety of others, the uncertainty will be even greater.”

“His current situation actually isn’t serious. With treatment, he could suppress some emotions through the medicine.” Seeing the two people in front of him, the doctor had to say, “But you also know that medication control doesn’t cure the symptoms. If you want to solve this problem, you can only find the cause of his main anxiety and depression and find a way to alleviate his worries and fears in this regard.”

The doctor had seen many difficult patients and even more uncooperative patients.

Patients who cooperated like Chen Qizhao were actually very rare. On the surface, he seemed to be cooperating. In fact, the other person had a strong sense of vigilance and a desire for control. Cooperating was just a means for the other person to control the treatment. In the end, his deeper, darker side might be stimulated due to the side effects of the medicine.

It was raining lightly outside, and the sound of pattering rain was like the sound of water flowing in the bathroom.

The driveway next to the private hospital was relatively quiet. There was a beep of the parking lot fee, and Shen Yuhuai slowly drove away from the hospital. The surrounding street scene receded. It wasn’t a long road, but it felt endless.

After a while, he stopped the car.

There were other cars driving on the side of the road. Shen Yuhuai sat in the driver’s seat and was silent for a long time. His hand touched the compartment next to the stick shift. He paused, and when he opened his wallet, he saw a photo in the middle.

Fireworks by the sea and Chen Qizhao.

Shen Yuhuai stared at it for a while before taking out other photos. Below the top photo was a photo of his younger self. The young Chen Qizhao was sitting next to him. When he smiled at the camera, he revealed a good-looking little tiger tooth. This photo had been found a while ago. He printed out a new size and put it in his wallet.

There was a beep in the distance, and someone honked the car horn. Shen Yuhuai’s mind returned. When he looked up, he saw a convenience store that was two stores away from him. Someone braved the convenience store to buy something. When he came out, he hurriedly rushed into the car.

The car door opened, and Shen Yuhuai walked into the convenience store with an umbrella.

There weren’t many things in the roadside store, but it had what it should have. He wandered aimlessly for a while before finally stopping at the rack of goods near the entrance. He took a pack of mints and paid at the counter.

“Do you have empty glass bottles for sale?” Shen Yuhuai asked.

The clerk paused and took a glass bottle from under the counter. “This isn’t for sale, but do you want it? It is left over from an event we did last time.”

It was already 9 o’clock at night, and the hospital was quiet.

Chen Qizhao didn’t see Shen Yuhuai after taking a shower, and his sleepiness also welled up. He fell asleep not long after lying on the bed. The environment in his dream was complicated. Sometimes, it was endless black water, and sometimes it was a variety of messy scenes. Once the scene froze on a certain picture, Chen Qizhao suddenly woke up. He opened his eyes and noticed that he was covered in sweat. Then his eyes stopped on a warm orange lamp not far away.

Chen Qizhao lay on the bed without moving. His eyes mechanically looked at the surrounding situation until his heartbeat gradually calmed down. Then he heard a subtle tapping sound not far away. He tilted his eyes to the side and saw Chen Shiming sitting on the sofa. It wasn’t known where he obtained the small desk lamp, but it only illuminated his area. At this time, he was frowning as he tapped on the laptop.

The work matter hadn’t been handled yet. Chen Shiming asked Zhang Yazhi to rest and stayed here to work while watching Chen Qizhao.

It was just that tonight, he didn’t know what happened. Not long after he started working, the laptop started freezing. Now it was simply dead. He was pondering on how to solve this situation when he suddenly heard a voice from not far away.

“What are you doing?”

Chen Shiming raised his head and saw that Chen Qizhao had sat up at some point and was looking in his direction. “Do you want to drink water?”

“No need.” Chen Qizhao’s gaze paused slightly. “What’s wrong with the laptop?”

“It crashed.” Chen Shiming still stood up, walked over, and poured a glass of water for Chen Qizhao. As he approached, he noticed that Chen Qizhao’s forehead hair was a bit wet, and his face seemed a bit pale. Chen Shiming frowned slightly. “Did you have a nightmare?”

Chen Qizhao didn’t respond. He drank the water while glancing at Chen Shiming’s laptop out of the corner of his eye. Then he said in a flat voice, “Bring it here.”

“What?”

“The laptop.” Chen Qizhao glanced at him. “It crashed. Are you planning to let the assistant send you another one overnight?”

Chen Shiming’s words choked up. He really didn’t bring any work when he came. It was mainly because Chen Qizhao didn’t like them bringing work here at night to deal with. The laptop was indeed sent over by Xiao Xu later. He took the laptop over, handed it to Chen Qizhao, and explained the situation.

Chen Qizhao looked at it. “Didn’t you take a computer course in college? Why can’t you solve this problem?”

“Does knowing computers mean you know how to fix them? I learned about software.” Chen Shiming stopped. “How do you know that I took a computer elective in college?”

Chen Qizhao’s tone was as usual. “You mentioned it before.”

Chen Shiming didn’t remember mentioning this to Chen Qizhao. Previously, the relationship between the two brothers wasn’t good, and there were only a handful of things they talked about. Chen Qizhao wasn’t curious about his college affairs. Chen Shiming suppressed the curiosity in his heart and continued, “There was something wrong with this one yesterday. I just tried to fix it, but it didn’t work.”

“It could be a hardware problem. This all-in-one machine… Go to the doctor or nurse outside to get a screwdriver.” Chen Qizhao turned the laptop over and showed him the screw mount on the back of the notebook. “For this port, just take a small one.”

The medical staff didn’t know what they wanted with a screwdriver. After coming over, she found that it was repairing a laptop. She gave it to Chen Shiming and said he could place it at the front desk after using it. The moment the screwdriver was handed to Chen Qizhao, he smoothly removed the back shell of the laptop. “Turn on the light.”

Chen Shiming went over to turn on the light. Then he stood by and watched Chen Qizhao skillfully disassemble the laptop.

The boy sat cross-legged in a hospital gown. When he lowered his head to deal with the computer, the slightly convex bones of his back were very obvious. He seemed to be very good at doing this and didn’t hesitate when acting. After disassembling the shell of the laptop, he checked the parts one by one.

Such a scene couldn’t help reminding Chen Shiming of middle school when the relationship between the brothers was just starting to get bad. Occasionally, there were times when they reconciled. What he saw most often was Chen Qizhao sitting in front of a computer and playing. His brother’s interest in artificial intelligence wasn’t a whim. He had been interested in smart products since he was a child and could play with a computer for a long time. Later, he became addicted to games, and Chen Shiming argued with Chen Qizhao several times because of restraint.

As a teenager, Chen Qizhao’s mind was hard to figure out. Chen Shiming was just afraid that the naughty child would go the wrong way.

Now that he thought about it, sometimes he had his own opinion and wanted to use the majesty of an older brother to suppress Chen Qizhao’s temper. Then in the end, it just made some relationships go further and further apart.

They are getting into the core. I hope Shiming tell it clearly to Yuhuai, that Qizhao’s paranoia seems to stem from a “dream”. Yuhuai seems more delicate and can pinpoint the real source of each problem. I can’t wait to see what Yuhuai gonna do next.
