MGAG: Chapter 95 Part 2

The hospital stay was longer. Chen Qizhao’s symptoms of sleepiness had decreased since he woke up that night. After the situation eased, Chen Qizhao received medical treatment. There were many drug reactions in the early stage. He didn’t resist the doctor’s treatment. Instead, he unexpectedly cooperated very well. This made Zhang Yazhi feel worried and afraid. She often asked the doctor about the situation.

Chen Qizhao had some drug reactions in the beginning, but the dosage of the initial medication was small, and the side effects weren’t obvious. Zhang Yazhi had always consulted the appropriate plan before taking the medicine. She considered both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine. Chen Shiming exaggeratedly formed a special team to follow up, and the place of hospitalization was transferred from the Second City Hospital to a private hospital that was quieter and more convenient for treatment.

Shen Yuhuai came here a few times. Every time he arrived, Chen Qizhao was either sleeping or receiving treatment.

The matter of the Gu family’s industrial chain also had an impact on the Shen family. The Shen family also played a role in providing evidence. In order to deal with the follow-up matters, the Shen family was busy during this time. In June, there was still an important project to be done in the laboratory. Shen Yuhuai had a limited time to ask for leave from his mentor. He often ran to both sides because he was so busy. Most of his free time was at night, but Chen Qizhao went to bed early at night.

“The reaction to the medication was relatively severe at the beginning. The doctor said that this is normal. These days, he will rest after eating and sleep more.” Zhang Yazhi saw Shen Yuhuai coming and pulled him to talk. During this time, Shen Yuhuai often came over, and Chen Qizhao’s treatment also had his help. He contacted several authoritative doctors.

Shen Yuhuai asked, “Has your appetite recovered somewhat?”

“No, he isn’t eating enough.” Zhang Yazhi lowered her eyes slightly. She knew that patients with this type of disease might be emotionally agitated and resist treatment. However, Chen Qizhao didn’t do so. He knew he was sick and should take medicine. He received the treatment when he needed to. These days, his emotional level was very calm, and he didn’t talk much.

But the more this happened, the more worried Zhang Yazhi became. “Sometimes, I hope he will make a little bit of a fuss, just like before.”

Zhang Yazhi said something. “Haven’t you been busy lately? Last time, your mother came over, and I heard there are many things going on at your laboratory.”

Shen Yuhuai replied, “It’s okay. I can still come over despite my busy schedule.”

Chen Qizhao’s affairs troubled Shen Yuhuai too much. Zhang Yazhi saw all the times he ran over and said, “If you are busy, go to work first. Then come and see him when you are done. After this period of time, there shouldn’t be such a big reaction. The doctor said his situation can be controlled. He should be able to stabilize himself after taking medicine for a period of time.”

Shen Yuhuai saw the person who was sleeping not far away. The quilt covered him, and Shen Yuhuai could only see the soft head with his back to this side.

He suppressed the emotions on his face. “It’s okay. I’ll come back another time.”

Zhang Yazhi had always been involved in the hospital care. The Chen family’s attitude toward this matter was very important. Despite hiring a nurse, the family also took turns to follow up every day.

The ward was quiet, and no one came to disturb him. Chen Qizhao’s cooperation made the doctor’s work go very smoothly, but the cooperation was limited. There was no definite result about the cause of Chen Qizhao’s emotions.

The hospitalization time was on the long side. Since the Chen family didn’t want to be disturbed too much, Chen Shiming ran around and handled the police’s questioning and other things. The hospital visitors were controlled, and not too many people came over. It was just that Zhang Yazhi was worried that Chen Qizhao would be too bored. Generally, the nurse wouldn’t stop it when Chen Qizhao’s friends came over.

When asked about the cause, the Chen family rarely told others. They just said that the child was feeling unwell.

The arrest of Gu Shen made many people sigh with relief. The Yan family brothers, who had been on guard, also temporarily lifted the alarm. Yan Kailin, who had been trapped in school, almost cried when he left the school. He went to the bar to play for one day and night. Then he was pressed back by Yan Kaiqi, and it wasn’t until the final exam was over that he was considered to be free from this hellish life.

After the exam, he finally learned about Chen Qizhao’s situation. Yan Kaiqi had suppressed the news, and he just thought that Chen Qizhao had gone out to avoid the limelight due to the Chen family’s affairs. As a result, he found out about the illness. On the same day, he made a fuss to know which hospital Chen Qizhao was in and rushed over without stopping.

They hadn’t seen each other for almost a month. Before going out, Yan Kailin took off his flirtatious earrings and dressed obediently. He entered the hospital and walked past the nurse on the first floor to Chen Qizhao’s ward. “Your brother is too exaggerated with this arrangement. It wasn’t so exaggerated even when I was suppressed in school. My brother sent at most three people to me.”

Zhang Yazhi saw that the two children were chatting happily. She didn’t bother them and went outside the ward.

Chen Qizhao was half lying on the bed, playing with his phone with a sleepy expression. The game was Tetris. “And then?”

“Hey, how much is it? Then during the days of the final exam, my brother even called the school, worried I would rebel and skip the exam. The bodyguards and teachers stood outside the classroom, so that the people in my class didn’t even dare to cheat. The group of people honestly finished the exam.”

Chen Qizhao asked, “Cheating?”

“It didn’t work.” Yan Kailin sighed. “The cheat sheet I prepared in advance was useless. I’m already a college student. Why is studying worse compared to high school?”

“Oh, in addition, Cheng Rong broke up with his girlfriend, did you know?” Yan Kailin lowered his voice. “It is a big material. Cheng Rong set up a drinking party and cried with us for a long time.

Chen Qizhao looked sideways slightly when he heard the words. His attention wasn’t on Tetris, and he was a bit surprised. “He still cried?”

“Of course! He cried while drinking. It is the first time I’ve seen him cry like that after knowing him for so long.” Yan Kailin was energetic as soon as he talked about gossip. “But he deserves it. During the infatuation period, he doted on her. Then when he was doing business, he would forget about her as soon as he drank. The girl felt that Cheng Rong was too indifferent to her, and the relationship was completely meaningless. Then she dumped Cheng Rong.”

“Will he be indifferent?” Chen Qizhao had no impression of Cheng Rong’s girlfriend. The deepest impression was that Cheng Rong held a birthday party for his girlfriend at that time. However, Cheng Rong’s girlfriends had changed a lot in the past, and his means of pursuit were considered enthusiastic. He shouldn’t be considered indifferent.

Yan Kailin told him, “Brother, if you don’t fall in love then you don’t know.”

Chen Qizhao: “……”

“You don’t understand those who are in a relationship. If you ignore the person for three hours then you just don’t care. If you reply slowly for two days, you can be considered indifferent! This type of relationship lasts for three or four days, and then it is over. You will be broken up.”

Yan Kailin sighed twice and said with an unfathomable face, “Little couples are like this when they are in love. They wish they could stick together every day, especially during the passionate love period. Every half an hour, they will send a sentence asking about what their baby is doing and whether their baby is good or not or if they are bored. If you don’t reply to a message for half a day, it is over. Your girlfriend will definitely think you aren’t the first in her mind and you will break up.”

Chen Qizhao’s hands stopped slightly. He heard from Zhang Yazhi that Shen Yuhuai had come to his ward several times, but every time he came, Chen Qizhao was asleep. He had been in better condition the past few days and went to bed later, but Shen Yuhuai hadn’t been here for two days.

Yan Kailin was still talking about Cheng Rong’s love history, but Chen Qizhao’s attention had gone astray. He had sent Shen Yuhuai a message in the morning but still hadn’t received a reply.

Outside the ward, Zhang Yazhi was explaining to the housekeeper, Uncle Zhang. “At night, keep it light. The child likes to eat meat. Don’t make it too greasy.”

Halfway through the phone call, Zhang Yazhi saw Shen Yuhuai coming from a distance. She finished explaining this matter when she saw what Shen Yuhuai was holding. “Why do you bring things every time you come here? Are you free during the day today?”

Shen Yuhuai freed up time in advance. “Yes, it’s over.”

He sat Zhang Yazhi outside and glanced at the room out of the corner of his eye. “Why are you outside?”

“Kailin is here and talking to Xiao Zhao. I saw they were chatting happily and didn’t stay inside.” Zhang Yazhi took the things to the nurse. You go in and talk to them. I’ll go downstairs to get something.”

The moment Shen Yuhuai entered the ward, he noticed the young man’s gaze looking straight at him.

During the past few days, he mostly saw this young man lying down. The situation of weight gain caused by medicine didn’t appear on Chen Qizhao. Now that Chen Qizhao was sitting up, the hospital gown seemed looser and his face seemed smaller again.

His hair was also longer, covering his eyes a bit.

Yan Kailin opened his mouth. “Brother Huai, you’re here?”

“Yes.”

The moment Shen Yuhuai came, Yan Kailin restrained his topic. He didn’t dare to talk about the bar and Cheng Rong, out of fear that Shen Yuhuai would go and tell his brother. He had to change the topic and talk about something else.

With Yan Kailin’s lively voice in his ears, Shen Yuhuai walked to the sofa and sat down. The moment he sat down, he noticed the eyes looking at him from a distance.

The gaze was fixed, and he didn’t look away from Shen Yuhuai.

“Brother, are you listening to me?” Yan Kailin asked.

Chen Qizhao responded, “Yes.”

The man in the distance was sitting on the sofa, wearing simple clothes. Shen Yuhuai had seen this outfit several times. Shen Yuhuai liked to wear clothes of this color when working. Shen Yuhuai didn’t seem interested in Yan Kailin’s words. Chen Qizhao looked at him. The other person seemed to be sending some messages on his phone.

As Yan Kailin was talking happily, his phone rang. He saw Yan Kaiqi’s name appearing on the call interface.

“Hello, Brother? Oh yes, I’m at the hospital… at this time?” Yan Kailin said a few more words. “Oh yes, then what time are you coming?”

He finished speaking, hung up the phone, and told Chen Qizhao, “My brother is coming to pick me up after work. He will be here in 15 minutes. Brother, I will come to see you tomorrow.”

Chen Qizhao stared at Shen Yuhuai.

Yan Kailin was very free after the exam, and he was free these days.

15 minutes wasn’t long. Not long after answering the phone, he left quickly.

“Do you want some water?” Shen Yuhuai asked.

Chen Qizhao nodded.

The room suddenly fell quiet. Chen Qizhao’s eyes followed Shen Yuhuai’s figure. He watched as |Shen Yuhuai poured water for him, and watched as Shen Yuhuai walked in front of him.

“Why do you keep looking at me?” Shen Yuhuai handed him the water and sat in Yan Kailin’s original place.

Chen Qizhao took the water glass. The rim of the cup seemed to be stained with a slight mint scent. “No, it just seems like I haven’t seen you in a long time.”

“Have you taken the medicine?” Shen Yuhuai’s voice was very soft.

Chen Qizhao took two sips of water and replied honestly, “I’ve taken it.”

The eyes of the two made contact, and Chen Qizhao blinked slightly.

At this time, Zhang Yazhi came in from outside the ward. “Is Kailin gone?”

Shen Yuhuai lowered his eyes and turned his head. “Yes, Kaiqi has something to do at night and picked him up.”

“I thought Kailin would stay here to eat at night.” Zhang Yazhi put the things she was carrying on the table next to the sofa. “I asked Old Zhang to make more food in the evening. You stay here and eat before leaving.”

Just as Shen Yuhuai was about to respond, he suddenly felt cool fingers touch his wrist. The fingers moved up the back of his hand and held his wrist.

The force was very light, but Shen Yuhuai was involuntarily pulled back by that hand. His fingers wrapped around the other person’s fingers and finally covered the back of his hand.

Shen Yuhuai looked sideways and saw the boy’s half-lowered eyes and slightly messy bangs.

That hand held his hand under the quilt. Separated by the layer of the quilt, the fingers pinched his bone knuckles as unscrupulously as before. A slightly hot temperature spread all the way along the quilt. Shen Yuhuai felt that his fingers were a bit hot.

Chen Qizhao scraped it from finger to palm, light and itchy.

Shen Yuhuai’s heart jumped.

“Yuhuai?” Zhang Yazhi looked over at them.

Shen Yuhuai grabbed the hand and answered, “Yes.”

I like the way author addressed the aftermath of revenge after two lifetimes here. Yes people were different and thus reacted differently. But I believed this story depiction of psychological trauma more than most rebirth novels. Sometimes I had marvelled over protagonists with strong mental capacity, but once in awhile I come across this kind of novel that give a reality check. Having a chance to rewind time didn’t miraculously reset all the damage, strain and trauma that had been inflicted. If the symptoms didn’t manifest immediately, then it can lay dormant like a time bomb. Aren’t you all just glad Qizhao issues are addressed professionally and seriously? Hoping Qizhao will continue cooperating and steadily coming out of the past lifetime’s traumatic shadow soon.
