Christmas was a very happy holiday for children. It wasn’t just Christmas. All holidays were fun for children. It was because holidays meant gifts, going out or eating something delicious.

Of course, there were exceptions. For example, Lin Fei had little enthusiasm about holidays. He knew every holiday and even knew the customs of many holidays, but he didn’t find them interesting or look forward to them.

Ji Leyu was different from him. He looked out the window and remembered the one Christmas when his parents took him out to play. He came home and found that they had magically conjured many gifts for him.

Ji Leyu asked Lin Fei, “Do you think my dad and your uncle will prepare gifts for us?”

Lin Fei was puzzled. “Why prepare gifts?”

“It is because the holidays are about gifts.” Ji Leyu held his cheeks and looked at Lin Fei. “Didn’t you receive gifts for Christmas before?”

Lin Fei shook his head.

Lin Luoxi wasn’t particular about this aspect. She was too busy and Christmas wasn’t a holiday for her. It wasn’t a special day like Lin Fei’s birthday, so she only cooked a few more dishes when she had time. If she didn’t have time then she just felt the excitement of the holiday. She didn’t think this day was any different.

Ji Leyu saw him shake his head and was surprised. “Then did you get gifts on New Year’s Day?”

Lin Fei shook his head.

“What about the Spring Festival?”

“There are red envelopes.”

“What about Children’s Day?”

“Yes.”

“Your birthday?”

“Yes.”

Ji Leyu, “……”

Ji Leyu felt it was okay. It was still a bit miserable but it wasn’t too miserable.

“My parents will give me gifts on Christmas and New Year’s Day.”

However, this was the first Christmas he was spending with Ji Yuxiao. He didn’t know if Ji Yuxiao or Lin Luoqing would prepare gifts for him.

He held his head and thought about it. Suddenly, he said, “Your mother is your uncle’s sister. If your mother didn’t buy you a gift for Christmas then your uncle might not buy it either.”

Lin Fei nodded. He remembered that he seemed to have spent Christmas with Lin Luoqing before and Lin Luoqing hadn’t bought any gifts.

Ji Leyu saw him nodding and felt a bit lost. He had a feeling of home last night, so he faintly hoped that Lin Luoqing could treat him the same as his mother. Now he found that it didn’t seem possible.

He sighed and comforted himself. “Gifts aren’t that important and every mother is different. Just like your mother won’t give you gifts at Christmas, not every mother will give gifts. It is nothing if I don’t receive them.”

Lin Fei nodded.

He saw Ji Leyu’s somewhat lost frown and asked him, “Do you want a gift?”

It was rare for Ji Leyu to not know how to reply. He wanted to say yes. Then he thought about how Lin Fei hadn’t received any gifts for so many years and hadn’t said anything, so he was embarrassed. However, he really did want gifts and didn’t want to say anything false like ‘no.’

He lay on the table and didn’t speak.

Lin Fei saw him like this and thought about it. In his heart, he said that if Lin Luoqing didn’t give him a gift at night, Lin Fei would give him one and say that Lin Luoqing gave it.

He didn’t care about there being no gifts for Christmas. He had lived like this for many years and was sure that Lin Luoxi loved him.

Just as some children’s thoughts were different from each other, adults were bound to have different thoughts as well. This was why some adults would give presents while some adults wouldn’t.

Lin Luoqing was his mother’s younger brother and it was normal for him to have the same idea as her. Therefore, Lin Fei didn’t feel that Lin Luoqing needed to buy gifts for him and Ji Leyu. He didn’t want to trouble Lin Luoqing because of this.

However, Ji Leyu had always received gifts and wanted them. There was nothing wrong with this.

Then Lin Fei would give him one. This way, Lin Luoqing could continue with his habits while Ji Leyu could be happy and receive a gift. It was the best of both worlds.

Lin Fei patted his head and coaxed him. “You are a good boy. There will be gifts.”

Ji Leyu was very doubtful. “Is that so?”

Lin Fei nodded. “You wait. Go back at night to see if there are any. You will be unhappy if you don’t receive any.”

“I won’t be unhappy if I don’t receive them,” Ji Leyu said stubbornly.

He was silent for a moment. Then he pursed his lips and whispered again, “Yes, I won’t be unhappy if I don’t receive them.”

Lin Fei listened to his self-comforting words and touched his head again.

As school ended in the afternoon, Ji Leyu suddenly approached him and said, “I thought about it.”

Lin Fei, “???”

“Your uncle came back yesterday specifically in time for Christmas. This is also a gift, so I have already received it,” he spoke with a smile. He had obviously coaxed himself.

Lin Fei saw the smile on his face and thought about how Ji Leyu had been lying on the table with a sad face before the first class. He just thought that Ji Leyu was really childish. He was unhappy for a while and then happy again.

“Are you awake?” Ji Yuxiao asked softly.

Lin Luoqing nodded and asked him in a daze, “You are back. When did you come back?”

Ji Yuxiao had arrived not long ago. He entered the bedroom and found Lin Luoqing sleeping, so he didn’t disturb Lin Luoqing. He sat in the wheelchair and quietly watched his sleeping face by the bed for a while. After that, he went to the study.

He saw it was almost time for Lin Fei and Ji Leyu to finish school so he came over to see if Lin Luoqing had woken up.

“I’ve been back a long time.” Ji Yuxiao didn’t want him to worry and coaxed him.

Lin Luoqing finally woke up completely. He quickly lifted the quilt, got out of bed and examined him carefully. “Is the physical examination over? Are you okay? Where is the physical examination report?”

“In my study. I’ll give it to you later.” Ji Yuxiao felt helpless. “Don’t worry. Nothing is wrong.”

Lin Luoqing was relieved to see that Ji Yuxiao was willing to show him and thought that it really should be okay.

It was good if Ji Yuxiao’s body was fine. He could intervene during this rest time and there was a chance to change things.

Ji Yuxiao looked at him. “Come back early.”

Lin Luoqing smiled and walked around him. Ji Yuxiao lowered his head and was about to turn the wheelchair. Then he suddenly felt his right cheek being kissed. It was very soft, like a dragonfly landing on water. He looked up and saw that Lin Luoqing’s eyes had a tiny gleam of cunning light.

“I’m leaving.” Then Lin Luoqing quickly ran out of the room.

Ji Yuxiao couldn’t help smiling, his heart throbbing uncontrollably.

There were always things in the world that were dazzling and brilliant, making people delighted when seeing them. It was the same with people.

Ji Leyu saw Lin Luoqing smiling suddenly and asked in a confused manner, “Dad, what are you thinking about?”

“I miss your dad.” Lin Luoqing’s mouth was a step faster than his brain.

Ji Leyu let out an exaggerated ‘wow’ and said very caringly, “Dad, you think slowly and think well. It is okay to think a bit more.”

Then he covered his mouth with his hand. “I won’t speak and won’t bother you.”

Still, he had already comforted himself so he didn’t feel too bad. He could still wave his hand and say to Lin Luoqing, “Good night, Dad.”

“Good night.” Lin Luoqing turned off the lights and walked out.

Lin Fei sat in his room for a while. He thought about the ‘good night’ that Lin Luoqing had just told him and guessed that Lin Luoqing hadn’t bought any gifts for Ji Leyu. Otherwise, Lin Luoqing would definitely buy a gift for Lin Fei as well and give it to him.

He waited a bit longer until he heard footsteps. He opened the door and saw Lin Luoqing leaving Ji Leyu’s room and walking toward his own bedroom. Lin Fei said in his heart, ‘Sure enough, it is like I guessed.’

Lin Fei thought about it. He gently closed the door and walked to his bookcase.

After they moved here, Lin Luoqing bought him many toys and gifts. Most of them he only took one look at before putting them in the cabinet. They hadn’t been used or played with. They were very new and could be given to Ji Leyu.

Lin Fei looked through it but didn’t know which one to give it. Every time he gave someone something, he had his own ideas. Now he suddenly decided to give Ji Leyu a gift and he had the rare feeling of not knowing where to start.

Lin Fei looked at the little tiger in the box. However, this was Lin Luoqing’s intention for him and he was a bit reluctant to give it to others.

If only there was a store next to the house. He could go and buy a gift for Ji Leyu. However, there wasn’t one.

It was too late by the time Ji Leyu mentioned it. It was already afternoon and there was no time to go off alone and buy him something. He could only give Ji Leyu something from what he already had. Lin Fei hadn’t felt it was difficult at first. After all, he had so many toys, dolls and ornaments.

Now he found that these things were basically given to him by Lin Luoqing and it was quite difficult.

Lin Fei searched carefully for a long time before finally finding a suitable gift. It was a crystal ball. Inside the crystal ball was a log cabin and it was snowing. A kitten was jumping on the snow.

Therefore, he generously placed the crystal ball into the box again, put it on the table and walked toward Ji Leyu’s room.

Ji Leyu wasn’t asleep yet. He was lying on the bed and playing a game on the tablet.

Lin Fei knocked on the door, walked in and turned on the light.

Ji Leyu closed his eyes at the sudden light. He turned to look at the door and asked after finding it was Lin Fei, “Why are you here? Are you going to sleep with me?”

Lin Fei walked to his bed and asked him, “Do you want to eat snacks?”

Ji Leyu pouted as he thought about it. Finally, he couldn’t resist the temptation and nodded.

Lin Fei raised his hand. “We will play rock paper scissors and whoever loses will go get it.”

“Can’t you go and get it?” Ji Leyu sat up and asked him in a spoiled manner. “You are the older brother and you are the best.”

If this was a normal situation, Lin Fei would’ve walked in already holding the snacks in his hand. However, tonight’s purpose wasn’t the snacks so he shook his head.

“Hurry up,” he urged Ji Leyu.

Ji Leyu was still obedient to him. Lin Fei told him to hurry and he reluctantly stretched out his hand, playing rock paper scissors with him.

It was two wins in three games and Lin Fei won easily.

Ji Leyu looked at him in an aggrieved manner.

Lin Fei touched his head. “Go. I’ll sleep with you tonight.”

Ji Leyu was happy after hearing this.

“Then you wait.” Ji Leyu raised the quilt, got out of bed, put on slippers and ran out.

Lin Fei saw that he had entered the elevator, so he went back to his room and took the crystal ball. He thought about it before selecting another box. Then he went back to Ji Leyu’s bedroom and put both boxes on the desk.

Ji Leyu came back quickly. He grabbed several snacks and showed them to Lin Fei with interest, “Which one do you want to eat?”

Lin Fei took a cranberry mochi bread. Then he pointed to the desk. “My uncle just came.”

Ji Leyu turned his head doubtfully and saw two gifts on the desk.

He hurriedly walked over and looked at it in surprise.

Lin Fei also walked over and told him, “One is yours and one is mine. This one is yours.”

He handed the box containing the crystal ball to Ji Leyu. “Merry Christmas.”
