Pei Huaiji walked calmly to the stable fence of the untamable purebred black horse that the herdsman said. He stretched out his hand and opened the stable door.
The camera crew of the show stood far away. They all seemed to be afraid of this horse.
You Mian looked sideways and observed Pei Huaiji’s every move curiously.
The floor of the stables was paved with red bricks. The beams and railings of the stables were pitch-black iron, and the wide path was lined with retro, incandescent electric lights. There was no unpleasant smell in the air. Everything he saw was clean.
Therefore, when Pei Huaiji took off the reins hanging in the compartment with hands covered by black leather gloves, his movements were dignified and steady. He looked like he came from a medieval, aristocratic oil painting.
The owner of the horse farm stood outside with You Mian, watching Pei Huaiji skillfully put the reins on the black horse.
The black horse, which had been restless and wanting to kick people from the beginning, actually fell quiet at this moment. He didn’t even pant.
You Mian noticed an incredulous cry from the owner of the horse farm beside him.
He said, “It is weird.”
Pei Huaiji stood on the left side of the tall stallion and unfastened the bridle. Then without hesitation, he took the reins and put them on the horse’s neck. Then he put on the bit, nose leather, and throat leather on the black horse in sequence. Nothing went wrong.
The tall black horse that was ‘fully equipped’ was pulled out of the fence by Pei Huaiji with the reins. It suddenly became more majestic and fearsome than when it was standing quietly inside.
The owner of the racecourse gave Pei Huaiji a thumbs up in admiration. “You are more skilled than me.”
This black horse was wild and untamable. Even the owner of the racecourse had been kicked by him a few times. So when the owner put the reins on him, there was always a slightly uneasy feeling in his heart. This meant his movements weren’t as sharp as Pei Huaiji’s movements.
Pei Huaiji wrapped the reins around the palm of his right hand a few times. The black horse’s mane exuded an inky black light, and he only made a slight hiss when he was led by Pei Huaiji.
Pei Huaiji raised his hand and stroked the side of the black horse’s neck. “Does he have a name?”
The owner of the racecourse introduced him, “Night.”
There was a hint of a smile in You Mian’s eyes. Pei Huaiji noticed it and suddenly said, “You Mian, do you want to touch him?”
“He won’t kick me, will he?” You Mian spoke worried words, but he had already moved forward.
“No, I will hold him,” Pei Huaiji said.
Pei Huaiji held the reins steadily, and Night also wisely lowered his head when You Mian approached.
You Mian stroked his thick mane and thought that Night was really handsome. He must be the dark horse prince of the racecourse.
The owner of the racecourse pointed to the partition between two stalls and said, “There is also a white horse over there called Daytime, who is a pair with Night.”
The owner of the racecourse’s eyes were fixed on You Mian. “Do you want to try that horse?”
You Mian withdrew his hand that was stroking Night and touched the tip of his nose with rare hesitation. “I can’t ride a horse.”
Pei Huaiji immediately turned his head when he heard this and said, “I can teach you.”
The moment Pei Huaiji said these words, the guests in the observation room became excited in unison.
Xi Rui stretched out her hands to cover her eyes, but there was a big gap between her fingers.
Guo Su tapped his pen and clicked his tongue a few times. “Chairman Pei should definitely show You Mian a handsome look before teaching him. Otherwise, once the two of them get on the horse, Chairman Pei won’t be able to ride off on his own.”
Qu Shao nodded in agreement. “I agree with what Teacher Guo said.”
The celebrity guests briefly exchanged a few words, and You Mian’s voice appeared on the screen.
“Let’s see you ride a few laps first.” You Mian’s eyes curved as he smiled brightly. “I also want to see if Chairman Pei can tame this wild horse.”
In the observation room, Guo Su slammed the pen in his hand against the table. “Sure enough, it is stable.”
“You Mian’s heartbeat line is guaranteed to be with Chairman Pei!”
Pei Huaiji, who knew nothing about other people’s observation topics, glanced at You Mian with a calm face, “Do you want to see it?”
The owner of the racecourse saw Pei Huaiji leading the horse out of the stable and couldn’t help reminding him, “Night has a wild temper. He has thrown off and kicked many people. You must be careful when riding.”
Pei Huaiji tilted his head and nodded lightly. He took off his black coat and placed it on the bench outside the racecourse. The man’s leather gloves weren’t taken off. He stepped on the stirrups and sat on the saddle in a very chic and noble manner.
The owner of the racecourse yelled with surprise in his tone, “Is this person your friend? What a surprise.”
You Mian and the owner of the racecourse stood outside the venue. You Mian watched Pei Huaiji calmly lean over and pat Night’s neck. Then he straightened up and sat on the horse’s back. He clamped his feet on the horse’s belly and Night started to trot obediently.
You Mian looked up slightly, his amber eyes full of a smile.
The owner of the racecourse applauded and laughed heartily. “This is the first time I have seen Night so well-behaved. He can actually trot obediently according to instructions. Today also opened my eyes, haha.”
Pei Huaiji and the cold and arrogant Night were very compatible.
It could be seen that Pei Huaiji didn’t exert any effort when pulling the reins and was wandering leisurely.
You Mian’s eyes followed Pei Huaiji on the horse. His eyes were narrowed slightly and were bright.
Pei Huaiji held the reins in his hand, his movements wanton and steady.
Even though he was doing such a cool move, the man’s expression was still cold, and his eyes sharp. It seemed that he didn’t do it on purpose, but he was used to this way of riding a horse.
The moment the wind blew in the pasture, Pei Huaiji tightened the reins suddenly, and Night’s speed increased to a higher level. The horse’s hooves overlapped quickly. He took Pei Huaiji and ran into the distance of the racecourse!
You Mian pursed his lips slightly, his heart beating faster.
Pei Huaiji had taken off his coat to reveal his strong arms under his shirt. At this moment, his shoulder and arm muscle lines bulged slightly under his shirt. His sense of pressure and power reached the peak in an instant.
For a moment, Pei Huaiji was so cold and handsome that words couldn’t describe it. An extremely charming temperament came from between his cold eyes.
Suddenly, the owner’s voice sounded beside You Mian. “Take this first and change into it later.”
You Mian was focused on Pei Huaiji, who was galloping in the distance. Hearing this, he glanced at the owner of the racecourse quickly. “What is this?”
The owner of the racecourse spread out the clothes in his hands one by one.
“Breeches, riding boots, and helmet.” The owner confirmed it. “Is this your first time riding a horse?”
You Mian blinked. “Yes.”
The owner of the racecourse handed the complete set of clothes to You Mian without any explanation. “Novices must wear them, Change into them before he comes back. You aren’t allowed to mount the horse without wearing such equipment.”
So when Pei Huaiji came back after riding around twice, he saw the ‘fully armed’ You Mian.
You Mian raised his hand and knocked on the black helmet he was wearing. He was smiling so hard that his eyes were narrowed. “You don’t have to wear it. I am the only one wearing it. It feels like I’ve turned into a child who needs to be taken care of.”
Pei Huaiji led Night to stop in front of You Mian and dismounted.
“It is necessary for novices to be fully equipped.” Pei Huaiji’s eyes were soft. “Don’t feel embarrassed.”
The owner of the racecourse heard the sound and took out the horse ‘Daylight’ from the stable.
The white horse approached with graceful steps. This horse was indeed much more well-behaved than Night, who stood quietly beside Pei Huaiji.
Pei Huaiji held the reins of Night in one hand and took the reins of Daylight from the racecourse owner’s hand with the other.
The owner of the racecourse took advantage of the situation to lead Night back to the stable.
You Mian stood on the left side of Daylight. He hesitated slightly before stepping on the stirrups.
After all, this was something he had never attempted before. You Mian was a bit hesitant.
Pei Huaiji gently pulled the reins, and the docile white horse lowered his head even further.
You Mian involuntarily reached out to gently stroke the mane. This was such a beautiful white horse.
Pei Huaiji’s voice was deep and majestic. “Don’t worry, I’m here.”
Pei Huaiji’s voice was firm and rational, instantly washing away any traces of uncertainty and hesitation in You Mian’s heart.
You Mian calmed down. He followed Pei Huaiji’s instructions and stepped on the stirrup. He successfully sat on a horse for the first time. He had just seen Pei Huaiji’s sitting posture when riding a horse. Now he subconsciously imitated the movements.
He kept his back straight and stared straight ahead.
An inconspicuous trace of surprise flashed across Pei Huaiji’s eyes. Then he smiled deeply.
“A genius,” Pei Huaiji stated.
The tips of You Mian’s ears were slightly red for a moment. Pei Huaiji led the white horse around the racecourse.
The tall, broad-shouldered man was still unstoppable even if he stood on the left side of the white horse.
The tension in You Mian’s heart gradually subsided along with the clatter of the white horse’s hooves.
Pei Huaiji also raised his head at the right time and asked, “Do you want to hold the reins yourself?”
You Mian nodded without hesitation.
Pei Huaiji let the white horse stop where it was while he walked to You Mian’s side and firmly handed him the reins.
“It is safer to hold it this way.”
Pei Huaiji lowered his eyes and taught carefully. You Mian tightened his grip on the reins and smiled softly, “Thank you, Teacher Pei.”
Pei Huaiji suddenly remembered the teaching session the two of them had at the ski resort in the morning.
Compared to Pei Huaiji, who didn’t know how to pretend, You Mian’s call of ‘Teacher’ at this moment obviously carried more weight.
Pei Huaiji’s eyebrows relaxed, and a very charming smile appeared on his handsome face.
Next, Pei Huaiji followed You Mian closely. After leading him around ten small laps, You Mian no longer needed Pei Huaiji and could start trotting on his own.
Pei Huaiji stood on the grass in the middle of the racecourse and watched the wind blow up You Mian’s curly hair. The young man was as high-spirited, free, and unrestrained as ever.
You Mian held the reins and ran a bit further. Then he very neatly held the reins and turned the horse’s head to run toward Pei Huaiji!
The wind in the pasture had a crisp and clean smell. The sunshine was more intense and dazzling.
At this moment, the image of You Mian riding a horse toward him gradually overlapped with the previous graceful figure swooping down the snowy road.
Every time, You Mian would choose him. This realization made Pei Huaiji uncontrollably happy.
You Mian held the reins in one hand and drove the horse to a stop beside Pei Huaiji. He smiled brightly and asked, “Has Teacher Pei tested your teaching results?”
Pei Huaiji raised an eyebrow slightly. “Yes.”
“You Mian graduates with full marks.”

Stop it you two, I feel like I’m third wheeling
Thank you for the update ☺️
Thanks for the update
Thanks for the chapter! Do people learn to ride this easily?
Based on my experience, yes. Maybe because the horse i got is very tamed and gentle. It only took me 2 rounds on the race course to get familiarized then found myself galloping. It was such a fun and exciting exprience 😊
Thanks for the update!! 😍😍😍
Wish the author had done research and promoted proper horse riding safety. I’ve never ridden, but to my understanding, a helmet should always be worn, and a back protector is a good idea – even well trained horses can bolt and being thrown off a horse can result in serious back injuries. Safety is cool.
This is how I feel about the skiing portion, sort of. Yeah, You Mian is mentioned putting on a helmet, but the author kept mentioning how their clothes couldn’t hide their figures, and one guest noted that between the remaining three irises, one was distinguished by his pink hair. So, they’re not wearing thick enough ski gear and (at least) one isn’t wearing a helmet? Hm.
Also, not all skiers are snowboarders and not all snowboarders are skiers. They require different boots, and both are expensive Hobbies. Not too fond of how the author portrayed that.
I desperately want to beat the ignorance out of this author, and make them go muck stalls until they learn at least the basic information they could have spent thirty seconds looking up online about horses. Authors, understanding the subject you are writing about is a foundation necessity for making the story enjoyable.
Gonna be honest, researching every single topic you want to write about to perfection, while admirable, isn’t necessary. The very bare minimum is enough. For the skiing, horseback riding, and other odd and ends what the author did here is fine enough. Not everyone is going to know everything about skiing (it can be an expensive hobby), and not everyone is going to know everything about horseback riding (it’s an even more expensive hobby). At least the author didn’t have both the characters riding the same horse while teaching them.
Suspend your disbelief enough to enjoy what the author is doing and you’ll be fine. Nitpick every detail and you’ll just be looking for reasons to dislike something.
If you don’t like the story, then that’s cool. But don’t pick apart every piece of it to try to convince other people your opinion is the only opinion.
Agreed on this. The plot of this novel revolves on romance so auhor dont have to specify such things. I mean, readers could just google skii and horse riding if they find it intresting. It would give them specific details the novel dont have. This is not a documentary lol
I agree. Unless the novel is focused on a specific theme, like sculpture/oil painting seems to be very important in the plot, I don’t usually nitpick about the details and the realism… But again, I barely know something about sculpture or paintings, so I can’t see the mistakes.
Anyways, I’m too used to novels where programming and hacking are exaggerated with a lot of a fiction; so I won’t even blink when the author brush off details like the horse riding or the skiing. I’ll only say something when the error is really grotesque.
