You Mian lifted the heavy curtain and walked into the restaurant. The other guests were already waiting in the box.
Pei Huaiji walked at the end of the group, following You Mian with a cold and silent expression.
Shen Nanxiao and his group were sitting in a private box. Shen Nanxiao smiled at them. “We have all ordered. If there are any more dishes you want to add, please order them.”
You Mian pulled out his chair and sat near the door of the box. Pei Huaiji sat next to him, and Yun Guanqing sat on the other side.
Guan Tong took the menu and looked at You Mian. “Honey, do you have anything else you want to eat?”
You Mian looked over the already ticked menu and shook his head.
Pei Huaiji waved his hand silently. Yun Guanqing also said, “I’m not picky about hot pot.”
Guan Tong was happy and put down the menu in his hand.
From the moment they walked in, other people’s eyes fell on You Mian.
Yan Tingxuan always took off his glasses from time to time to wipe the fog from them. “Are the three of you assigned together?”
Yun Guanqing held his chin and smiled openly, “Yes.”
He accepted the jealousy of the other two people calmly.
Huo Yanzhi sat beside Bai Lin and frowned. “You guys live in the smallest house. You should be very uncomfortable at night.”
Pei Huaiji had a furrowed brow as he calmly picked up the teapot and poured tea. Then he naturally placed the cup of hot tea in front of You Mian while everyone else was chatting.
You Mian was wrapped in heat. He took off his scarf and whispered his thanks.
Yun Guanqing glanced their way while still answering Huo Yanzhi’s question just now.
“Since the director team arranged it this way, it proves that it can be accommodated.”
Huo Yanzhi frowned sharply, his expression very unhappy.
Yan Tingxuan lowered his head and wiped his eyes, a bit silent.
You Mian held the tea cup to warm his hands and asked, “It is still early. Did the show’s staff say that there would be activities after eating?”
Guan Tong had just returned from getting a few bottles of soda and happened to hear You Mian’s words. His shoulders immediately slumped down, and he sighed. “I asked the director just now. He said there was an event! There will be an ice sculpture exhibition at noon.”
Guan Tong held a few seconds of silence for the flying chess he had brought.
You Mian took a sip of hot tea and suggested, “We can play at night.”
Guan Tong immediately regained his energy. “Yes!”
He raised his left hand in the air. “I want to play flying chess. Does anyone else want to participate?”
The Heartbeat House that Guan Tong chose was the largest one among the group. His roommate was Huo Yanzhi.
Huo Yanzhi raised his hand and said, “Come and play in our house. It is the biggest place.”
Huo Yanzhi’s words were true. The appearance of the largest igloo they chose was similar to that of You Mian’s smallest one. It was just that the interior decoration was much better.
There wasn’t only a dining room and kitchen but also a living room and two bathrooms.
You Mian didn’t want to dampen Guan Tong’s enthusiasm, so he raised his hand and said, “Add me.”
Guan Tong glanced at everyone. Only Bai Lin didn’t raise his hand.
Bai Lin sat in the innermost part of the box with hunched shoulders. “It is too cold here. I want to go back and rest early.”
Guan Tong blinked and neatly agreed. “Then the rest of us will continue playing at night!”
Pei Huaiji’s eyes fell on You Mian’s slightly red fingers and pursed his lips.
The characteristics of hot pot were that it was lively and fast. The moment the ingredients were put in, everyone ate them with chopsticks and spoons.
A small hot pot was placed in front of everyone and was steaming, making the room warm and comfortable.
You Mian noticed that the bottom of Pei Huaiji’s pot was green and white. They had eaten many dinners together at JL. He naturally remembered Pei Huaiji’s eating habits. He didn’t eat spicy foods or heavy, oily food.
He ate in a self-disciplined and clean manner.
If it wasn’t for an accident, maybe the other person would’ve maintained the habit of not drinking alcohol.
You Mian picked up his chopsticks and instinctively refused the ice soda offered by Guan Tong.
Guan Tong snorted. “Ice soda and hot pot are the best combination. Honey, are you still a young man?”
Yun Guanqing looked to the side while holding a glass bottle filled with ice water.
He saw You Mian holding hot tea, his eyes narrowed as he smiled. “I’ll just drink this.”
Guan Tong heard this and drew out his words, asking, “Who did you learn this from?”
Pei Huaiji calmly picked up the teapot and filled You Mian’s half-empty cup with tea.
Guan Tong: “……” Okay, he wouldn’t ask.
You Mian blinked as he realized his habits seemed to have been greatly influenced by Pei Huaiji. The scary thing was that these behaviors were all branded with the words ‘Pei Huaiji’ in a subtle process.’
You Mian glanced at Pei Huaiji. The man remained silent and cold, calmly maintaining his rationality and calmness. He seemed to always be so powerful and insurmountable.
In the recording for the new episode of the show, Pei Huaiji completely hid the relationship between the two of them during this process. It was as if he didn’t want others to know how far he and You Mian got along.
The man didn’t have a show-off personality.
You Mian took a sip of the hot tea. A warm feeling flowed down his throat to his stomach, seeming to warm the tips of his fingers in this extremely low temperature.
Bai Lin was quieter than usual at the table. The guests didn’t discuss the dinner that was suspended midway.
The complicated relationship between Bai Lin and You Mian didn’t make the atmosphere in the house stiff. On the contrary, everyone was avoiding the topic lightly.
This was especially the case with Guan Tong. He was happy after hearing that Bai Lin wasn’t coming to the flying chess party at night.
Everyone ate and drank enough. Then the staff members standing aside to record them also reminded them, “The ice sculpture exhibition will start soon. Everyone can organize your things and go.”
The moment the heavy curtain was lifted, the cold air that had been isolated before rushed in. This caused fog to appear in front of everyone.
Shen Nanxiao shivered from the cold for a moment. “It is colder than I imagined. I’m not wearing enough clothes.”
He huddled together with Guan Tong to keep warm. Guan Tong deliberately didn’t wear heavy cotton wool to look good. The coat he wore only looked thick, but it actually couldn’t block much wind.
After everyone walked out of the restaurant, the photographer of the show pointed into the distance. “There is an ice sculpture exhibition in the center of the town. There should be a clothing store over there. If you feel cold, you can go there to buy some clothes.”
Yan Tingxuan stood next to Guan Tong and Shen Nanxiao. The man had already taken off his glasses when he walked out of the restaurant. He said, “The temperature here will be even lower at night.”
Guan Tong immediately screamed when he heard this. “No! I have to buy clothes, buy the thickest ones!”
As Guan Tong said this, he pulled Shen Nanxiao and rushed to the front of the crowd. They ran toward the exhibition.
You Mian only had time to shout, “Run slowly!”
The young man’s beautiful chestnut curly hair had some moisture hanging on it, and his finger joints were slightly red.
Yun Guanqing was walking behind You Mian when he suddenly saw Pei Huaiji taking off his pair of black leather gloves.
Pei Huaiji’s movement of giving them out was so natural and unintentional that it made You Mian feel a bit embarrassed.
“You don’t want to wear it?” You Mian huddled in his gray plush scarf and looked up at him with a pair of extremely bright amber eyes.
Pei Huaiji said calmly, “It is too late to go back to the house to get them now. Just wear my pair.”
Go back to the house to get it?
You Mian suddenly remembered the pair of light blue plush gloves given by Yun Guanqing.
Yun Guanqing stood not far behind the two of them. If it had been more than a month ago, he would’ve pulled You Mian back to the house to get the pair of gloves he gave.
But now Yun Guanqing just sneered, turned away, and said stiffly, “The temperature is very low. You will hurt your hands if you don’t wear them.”
You Mian took Pei Huaiji’s gloves as Yun Guanqing was saying the first words.
Yun Guanqing: “……”
Yan Tingxuan narrowed his eyes and followed slowly. Yun Guanqing’s sharp tongue wasn’t fully utilized before, so he raised his eyebrow at Yan Tingxuan and said, “Hey, do you still have to wear glasses when you know you are short-sighted.”
Yan Tingxuan glanced at him casually. “I forgot to take out my contacts when I put it in the suitcase.”
The man had one hand in his pocket as if he was holding something.
The exhibition had indeed begun by the time the group of people reached the center of the town.
Bai Lin complained that his legs hurt halfway, so he was lagging far behind alone.
Yan Tingxuan’s vision wasn’t clear. He turned to look at Huo Yanzhi and couldn’t help narrowing his eyes. “Why don’t you go to accompany him?”
Yan Tingxuan thought that Huo Yanzhi fighting for the right to a date at the shooting range was a sudden accident, but it seemed not to be the case now.
Huo Yanzhi walked beside him with broad shoulders and replied, “Now that I understand some things, I don’t want to be a fool anymore.”
Yan Tingxuan sneered.
Huo Yanzhi heard this and said coldly, “The pot is calling the kettle black.”
Yan Tingxuan gripped something in his coat pocket. Once he saw that the cameraman’s camera wasn’t looking this way for the time being, he raised his hand and covered the microphone on his chest. He said with a smile, “Do you like easily swayed flowers? Sometimes you go over there, and sometimes you come back here.”
The well-dressed man said this, causing Huo Yanzhi to frown fiercely. “What qualifications do you have to teach me a lesson here?”
Yan Tingxuan turned his head silently. “At least I know who the person I have always liked is, unlike you.”
Huo Yanzhi snorted coldly. “Really?”
“You like him, but you act like this. I thought you hated him.”
Yan Tingxuan’s pupils narrowed slightly, and he suddenly pursed his lips in silence.
Huo Yanzhi’s eyes fell on You Mian in front, and Pei Huaiji walking beside him.
“Aren’t you good friends who grew up together?” Huo Yanzhi asked casually. “You threw away this intimate relationship yourself. Now you hope he will forgive you if you kneel down. Stop dreaming.”
You Mian wasn’t that type of person.
Huo Yanzhi knew it, and so did Yan Tingxuan.
He remembered when Huo Yanzhi came back from abroad and approached You Mian. He always put on a gentle smile, but no matter what Huo Yanzhi said or did, You Mian was alienated and indifferent.
Warming up this cold piece of amber required patience and restraint. Huo Yanzhi did a good job at the beginning.
But he didn’t cherish it and even broke the beautiful amber to pieces with his own hands.
“What about you?” Yan Tingxuan asked calmly. “What position and qualifications do you have to say these things to me?”
Huo Yanzhi was stunned for a moment. Then he smiled bitterly and fell silent just like Yan Tingxuan was silent.
The huge and gorgeous ice sculptures of the north stood within easy reach. You Mian looked up, his fingers wrapped in warm leather gloves. Pei Huaiji’s serious voice sounded in his ears. “The style is similar to Rodin’s The Burghers of Calais. The carving style is more realistic.”
You Mian’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. What Pei Huaiji said was exactly what he was thinking when he stood in front of this gorgeous and huge ice sculpture.
Pei Huaiji asked in a deep voice, “Do you like this style?”
You Mian buried his chin in his scarf and said in a muffled voice, “I quite like it.”
He liked gorgeous, bold colors. He preferred plaster and wood to materials like ice, which couldn’t be stained with color pigments.
Yun Guanqing stood behind the two people with a slightly stiff expression on his face. What Calais, what realistic?
Yun Guanqing knew that You Mian and Pei Huaiji were talking about sculpting, but he couldn’t join in.
You Mian turned around and saw Yun Guanqing’s confused expression. He couldn’t help explain, “Rodin, the one who sculpted The Thinker.”
Yun Guanqing pursed his lips and coolly pulled down his hat, saying, “Oh.”
Pei Huaiji added indifferently, “A French sculptor.”
Yun Guanqing’s breathing was almost stuck in his throat. This was the first time he faced competition with Pei Huaiji, and it was at this moment that he realized that Pei Huaiji wasn’t an old-fashioned and serious old man.
Pei Huaiji could chat with You Mian and understand You Mian’s sculptures better.
Yun Guanqing pinched the edge of the hat and pressed it down, covering most of his narrow eyes.
The cold wind blew through You Mian’s hair. The boy’s beautiful eyes were looking up at the tall and majestic ice sculpture in front of him. The excitement was visible on his face, showing how happy he was at this moment.
Yun Guanqing’s footsteps, which wanted to stop, suddenly followed the other person again uncontrollably.
As he lowered his head and typed the name Rodin in the Internet search box with fingers trembling in the wind, he muttered to himself, “D*mn, who is this person?”

Thank you for the update!
Thanks for the chapter! If the guy was European, especially if he was living in France, I would have been on the “badly lacks culture” team, but I don’t know what’s taught on the side of the world & I certainly won’t assume that the school would privilege something from over here instead of one of their own famous stuff I probably know next to nothing about.
I don’t know if ML was already interested in the subject or he learned about art for the sake of better understanding his crush, but considering the fact that he was visiting a museum with his mum, he probably has a better education on the subject than most.
Don’t know about education in China, but the Thinker by Rodin is famous enough in my country (not Europe exactly), so that most of the people know/have seen the sculpture
Thanks for the update!! 😍😍😍
