CEFYMA: Chapter 110

Yun Guanqing looked straight at You Mian. The big movie star who always had a proud and complacent smile on his face had finally given in and completely let go of his pride.

You Mian turned his head to glance at Pei Huaiji.

The man was carrying a suitcase in both hands, his eyes dark and gloomy.

You Mian recalled what the other person said about being very jealous. Regardless of what others thought, he stared directly at Pei Huaiji and asked with a smile, “Is it okay?”

You Mian was seeking Pei Huaiji’s opinion.

Everyone present couldn’t help holding their breath after hearing You Mian’s voice.

This was really the last episode. This thought appeared in their minds at the same time.

Yun Guanqing seemed to hear the sound of his head hitting the iron wall hard. His unwilling mood was shattered all over the ground, and he was embarrassed and couldn’t bear it.

Pei Huaiji was the undisputed winner at this moment. He had You Mian’s love.

Yun Guanqing’s Adam’s apple moved as he heard the man behind him say solemnly, “The evening wind is very strong. Come back early.”

Yun Guanqing faced You Mian and clearly saw the young man’s eyelashes tremble gently. His eyes were filled with an unspeakable smile.

As the biting cold wind blew, the frozen lake outside the house reflected the pale and bright moonlight, illuminating You Mian’s profile with a bright and cold white light.

Yun Guanqing and You Mian walked slowly to the lake and stopped. From this position, the camera could only capture the backs of the two people but couldn’t pick up any sound.

Yun Guanqing watched You Mian bury his chin in the collar of the down jacket, and mist rose gently along the tip of the young man’s nose.

“What do you want to talk about?” You Mian asked first.

Unlike Yun Guanqing’s hesitation, he was always frank and unhesitating.

Yun Guanqing tried hard to clear away everything he had seen and thought. He took a deep breath, smiled, and said, “I really admire you, You Mian.”

You Mian looked sideways at him and didn’t speak.

The cold wind whistled beside his ears. Yun Guanqing turned his eyes away and looked at the ice surface in the distance. “I thought you were hard-hearted before. No matter whether it was Yan Tingxuan or Huo Yanzhi, you really walked forward without any hesitation after you made sure you wouldn’t look back.”

“I felt very happy at the time, but I also sincerely admired your choice.”

“I didn’t expect it would be my turn now. This feeling is really not good.” Yun Guanqing took a breath and his nasal tone gradually got heavier.

“Why don’t you ever regret it?”

Yun Guanqing’s last words floated lightly in the wind and were quickly blown away.

You Mian’s hands in his pockets gradually changed from vigilant fists to relaxed ones.

“How do you know I haven’t regretted it?” You Mian noticed Yun Guanqing’s relieved attitude and his tone became much more relaxed. “It is because I regret it so much that I don’t allow myself to make any wrong choices now.”

“The wrong choice,” Yun Guanqing repeated with a smile. “For example?”

You Mian turned around and looked directly at Yun Guanqing. “For example, being too soft-hearted and accepting your apology.”

“But you didn’t.” Yun Guanqing repeated. “You didn’t accept my apology.”

You Mian nodded. He showed some of the hardness that Yun Guanqing just mentioned. “So I made the right choice this time.”

Yun Guanqing only understood half of what was said and didn’t understand what You Mian meant by ‘now’ and ‘this time.’

Snowy wind blew across the ice.

“Congratulations.” Yun Guanqing didn’t understand but was still happy for You Mian. “Congratulations.”

You Mian pursed his lips, and a rare smile appeared in his eyes because of Yun Guanqing.

“It is the last episode.” Yun Guanqing didn’t look into You Mian’s eyes. He stared into the distance and asked softly, “Is there anything you want to tell me?”

You Mian was frank. “What do you want me to say?”

Yun Guanqing lowered his eyes sadly and smiled. “I don’t know what I want you to say to me.”

The two of them stood in silence by the icy lake. After a few seconds, Yun Guanqing seemed to have recovered from his previous state. He turned to look at You Mian and raised an eyebrow. “You really like Pei Huaiji?”

Yun Guanqing heard his uncontrollable heartbeat, and he was nervous.

Even though the facts were already before him, he was still nervous about the answer he would hear from You Mian next.

You Mian nodded.

The young man was also frank when expressing his love. He smiled and said, “I like him very much.”

A touched and gentle look appeared on You Mian’s face because of Pei Huaiji.

For the first time, Yun Guanqing personally understood what the script lines meant. ‘The protagonist collapses in pain due to the permanent loss of his loved ones.’

No wonder why the director always called out ‘cut’ when he was howling hysterically on the set.

It turned out that when pain reached the extreme, people would be stunned and unable to react.

Yun Guanqing was extremely self-centered and had never experienced the feeling of loving someone. Therefore, most of the scripts he received didn’t contain any emotional scenes. This movie was an exception.

This variety show was also an exception.

And You Mian…

This was an exception among all exceptions in his life. It was also an exception that only happened once.

Yun Guanqing stared at the young man in front of him, eyes gradually turning red.

Obviously, You Mian was standing in front of him, but Yun Guanqing already felt that there was too much distance between them.

Yun Guanqing raised his head, swallowed the words ‘I like you’ that he was about to say, and instead said in a hoarse voice, “Congratulations.”

“Is it because you spent a long time with him?” Yun Guanqing wanted to get a correct answer.

He was the one who got the question wrong, so what would be the correct answer?

You Mian pursed his lips and said calmly, “Yan Tingxuan has been my good friend for over ten years.”

Yun Guanqing was slightly stunned.

You Mian added, “Huo Yanzhi and I have known each other for quite some time.”

Yun Guanqing understood what You Mian wanted to say.

“Time is just time itself to me. It won’t bring love out of thin air.” You Mian blinked and said, “If there must be a reason, it is because he is Pei Huaiji.”

Yun Guanqing took a deep breath, but his shoulders drooped uncontrollably.

As the two people stood facing each other, another male voice suddenly sounded behind them.

“Are you done talking?”

In the cold wind, Yan Tingxuan took off his glasses and held them in his hand. He found You Mian from the blurry silhouette in front of him. He tried to stare straight at You Mian, and asked with a smile, “Can you give me ten minutes next?”

Yun Guanqing turned his head and glanced fiercely at Yan Tingxuan. He had already suppressed his turbulent emotions.

Yun Guanqing left with his head down. Yan Tingxuan and You Mian walked to a shelter. The whistling wind stopped here, and their bodies became much warmer.

Yan Tingxuan wiped his lenses and put them back on his nose.”

“This is the last episode,” Yan Tingxuan said.

You Mian listened to this routine greeting in silence and didn’t answer.”

“Xiao Mian.”

Yan Tingxuan smiled elegantly. The well-mannered and refined man didn’t look embarrassed at all at this moment. He was unrestrained, romantic, and high-spirited, as if time had gone back to the past.

“It seems as if we have said everything we can say to each other,” Yan Tingxuan said in a self-deprecating manner. “Most assumptions are meaningless. I don’t want to think about ifs any longer. I don’t want to think about the past anymore.”

You Mian frowned slightly. Suddenly, he heard You Mian say, “I will always have a guilty love for you.”

“Having a friend like me…” Yan Tingxuan smiled, his nose slightly red. “Was it a disaster for you?”

You Mian stared at the wind outside in silence.

Three seconds later, the young man hummed. “It was a nightmare.”

Yan Tingxuan pursed his lips and frowned humbly. His Adam’s apple trembled as he wanted to say something. He had a lot to say, but he couldn’t express any of it.

It turned out that he had taken ten minutes for granted. He and You Mian didn’t even need ten minutes to talk.

There was nothing but silence.

In the end, Yan Tingxuan just said, “Good luck for the Star Cup.”

Without waiting for You Mian’s response, Huo Yanzhi suddenly rushed into the small pavilion in the night, interrupting the silent conversation between Yan Tingxuan and You Mian.

Yan Tingxuan and You Mian looked up at the same time.

Huo Yanzhi was seen rubbing his hands, his cheeks red from the cold.

The man frowned. His expression was calm but there was a ripple of emotion hidden beneath it. He asked with a smile, “Would you like to chat for a while?”

You Mian looked up at Huo Yanzhi and watched the man come over to sit on his left.

The three of them sat side by side in the small pavilion. The cold wind was howling outside, and the silence here was awkward.

They sat here quietly, the moonlight shining on their shoulders and faces.

Huo Yanzhi stretched out his long legs, pursed his lips, and smiled. The dark ink under his eyes couldn’t be removed, but he tried to soften his tone. “It seems like we are back in our sophomore year.”

“At that time, the three of us always sat on the bench next to the basketball court. Yan Tingxuan went to play basketball while You Mian and I sat nearby and watched the water.”

Yan Tingxuan didn’t say anything.

Huo Yanzhi stared into the distance and blinked. Then he continued, “We often sat like this by Lake A. You Mian, you painted and Yan Tingxuan and I stayed by your side.”

“There are also libraries, playgrounds, and cafeterias…”

“There were a lot of people at noon. I finished class earlier than you did, so I got so good at fighting for seats that I became very experienced.”

Huo Yanzhi’s voice became smaller as he spoke. Finally, he paused for a moment as if a piece of chain had rusted and snapped.

You Mian had already stood up and left.

In the small pavilion with an empty space in the middle, Huo Yanzhi’s voice was still ringing.

“Another time, the three of us went to the theater together, but when we got there, we found out that the tickets were for next week. When we asked, we found out that You Mian stayed up all night to carve a work and he just randomly picked one when he woke up in the middle of the night. Hahaha.”

Huo Yanzhi laughed and asked, “Do you still remember Yan Tingxuan?”

Yan Tingxuan hummed across the empty seat. “I remember. He always looks at numbers badly when he doesn’t sleep well.”

“And that final exam…”

Big tears fell on the pavilion.

Huo Yanzhi’s mood hit rock bottom when he failed to draw You Mian in the morning. Then he waited anxiously the whole day.

He finally waited for You Mian to come back, but the tacit and intimate behavior between him and Pei Huaiji destroyed the last bit of Huo Yanzhi’s sanity.

The intense sadness that came over him again almost broke Huo Yanzhi down completely.

But he didn’t know how to save his relationship. He also knew he wasn’t qualified to keep this person.

Once his nerves were stretched to the limit, Huo Yanzhi suddenly stood up and shouted into the distance, “You Mian!!”

The snow was blowing in the wind on the ice late at night. In his vision, You Mian was walking away in a white coat. The young man didn’t look back or stop. His steps were firm and unwavering.

Yan Tingxuan sat in his original position and glanced toward You Mian’s back.

Sometimes, a back view spoke louder than any words of rejection.

Huo Yanzhi finally realized the truth and sat back in his seat dejectedly.

“I guess we won’t see each other again after the show ends,” Huo Yanzhi muttered to himself in a hoarse voice.

To this, Yan Tingxuan simply said, “You Mian isn’t a bird in a cage.”

Huo Yanzhi’s arms resting on his knees were shaking.

Was it over? Yan Tingxuan thought that it should be.

Their regrets, guilt, and entanglements were nothing but obstacles to You Mian.

After cutting off the entanglement with this group of people, You Mian’s future was bright.

The snowy wind on the ice blew violently from the side. You Mian walked forward quickly. Suddenly, he saw a beam of light when he approached the bamboo house.

In the strong wind that seemed to make the heaven and earth spin, You Mian followed the light and accurately saw Pei Huaiji standing in the light.

The man had a study figure and walked toward him in the wind and snow, wrapped in a thick coat.

“You’ve been gone for a long time,” Pei Huaiji said in a deep voice.

In an instant, an incomparable sense of security surged in You Mian’s heart.

At the same time, just as You Mian was stunned, he was suddenly gently pulled by Pei Huaiji into a warm hug.

The turbulent emotions that had just been stirred up by Yan Tingxuan and the others gradually subsided at this tight hug.

The feeling of weightlessness of walking in the void disappeared. The endless grudges were finally cut off, and the entanglement ended.

You Mian felt the scorching heat from Pei Huaiji and smiled with curved eyebrows and bright eyes.

They should both consider themselves lucky that Pei Huaiji doesn’t hire some goons to bray their knees in.
